Mary J. Blige on Her New MAC Lipstick and Wearing Less Makeup

Mary J. Blige has already become one of the most famous R&B singers of all time and has nine Grammys to show for it, and now she’s just launched her own lipstick with MAC Cosmetics to celebrate two special anniversaries. This year is the brand’s 25th anniversary, and it’s also the 25th anniversary of Blige’s album My Life. MAC is launching the Love Me Lipstick line as part of the celebration and enlisted Blige (who has now worked with the brand three times) to help.

Blige created her own lipstick for the line, a light pink color with peach undertones called French Silk ($19, available June 23 on the brand’s website), which has a subtle sheen. The bullet of the lipstick is special, too. It features a pink-and-black gradient and includes Blige’s autograph on the tube. “It’s the perfect time to do something like this,” she said. “And here we are today doing this lovely [collaboration] and I chose the Love Me line because that’s exactly what I’m doing right now. Loving me.”

In addition to launching the lipstick, Blige will be joining MAC this year at the Love Ball to support the CFDA-Vogue Initiative for the New York City AIDS Fund.

POPSUGAR sat down with Blige to discuss her career and latest partnership with MAC.

Live Like A Lord: 10 Things Scott Disick Does To Achieve Success

Scott Disick’s literally a Lord; he did buy himself a knighting ceremony, has his close family refer to him as “The Lord” or “L.D.,” and his Instagram username is “letthelordbewithyou”. With a net worth of $15 million and counting, the TV personality and socialite is the splitting image of success—something a lot of us can only aspire to.

A quick glance at his Instagram profile reveals what most of us can only dream of; snazzy cars, private jets, luxury clothes, sprawling mansions, and, of course, a postcard-pretty family life, with three beautiful children. But it wasn’t that easy to get there. Read on to find out what he does to be and remain, successful.

10 Be Unconventional And Try Different Things

Scott Disick always tried out different things and never really followed the status quo. While most of us were falling in love in our teens, Disick captured people’s hearts by being a heartthrob literally; he modeled for a series of young adult novels called Heartland by Lauren Brooke, which were aimed at girls between the ages 12 and 17.

Yes, while most of us read romance novels on the sly, he was busy gracing their covers. In short, no matter where you are, remain industrious and make use of whatever opportunities you get.

9 Pay Attention To That Inner Entrepreneur

If you want to be successful, you must learn to be your own boss. If you have the chance and the resources, try to start your own business or a start-up. It may not always pay off, but it’s worth it. That’s what Disick did.

In 2012, he started a Japanese restaurant in New York City, even though it closed after 191 days. He’s been a spokesperson for Amidren, which is a drug for male menopause, as well as a tanning product, again aimed at males. Plus, of course, he’s had his own tv show not surprisingly called “Lord Disick: Lifestyle of a Lord”.

8 Make The Right Connections

Scott Disick, as most of us are aware, rose to fame by dating Kourtney Kardashian. They had an on-off relationship for a while, and he was a regular appearance on the show Keeping Up With The Kardashians and was the father of three adorable kids.

Hadn’t it been for the Kardashian connection, we don’t know if he’d still be as famous. Which goes on to show, just how important the right connections and contacts can be. So, if you want to be successful, step up your networking and socializing game.

7 Seriously, Be The Best Host That You Can Be

Scott Disick’s been featured on a number of television shows. And you know why? It’s because he can be a charming and engaging host. In fact, Disick is so good at his job that he does a variety of paid hosting gigs at fancy night clubs and pool parties. He probably makes $100,000 just for showing up.

If you’re an extrovert and you’re good at performing or public speaking, make the best use of your talents. Get yourself out there and get that exposure. Be the life of the party at an event- and people will be so charmed, you’ll start getting the invitations.

6 Celebrate Your Success

Your success is meaningless unless you can properly celebrate and cherish it. All of us have our own methods of celebrating our achievements and the things we’re proud of. For Disick, it’s his Instagram, on which he likes to brag about his expensive watches, sunglasses and private jets.

Try keeping a diary or document your little successes on social media. Not only will you be cheered on, but you’ll also inspire a host of other people, and one day, as you scroll down your past posts, you’ll be amazed at just how far you’ve come.

5 You Don’t Have To Follow Society’s Expectations

Society expects us to go to school, get a job, start a family, buy a house—but what if you could do things differently? What if you could do things your way? What if you could skip some of the steps and fast forward to the ones that matter to you?

Well, in the case, just take a leaf out of Scott Disick’s book. Like so many other millionaires and billionaires, Scott Disick was a school drop-out. He’d been going to a posh private school in East Hampton and he dropped out to follow his dreams.

4 Always Make Time For Yourself

Success requires hard work and perseverance, yes, but don’t let that kill you. No matter what you do, always make time for yourself and for the people and things that matter to you.

For instance, Scott Disick always enjoyed playing hockey and snowboarding. Now, he makes sure that he still has time to enjoy it. From time to time, he decides to take a trip to the mountains and relax by snowboarding. So don’t give up on your hobbies in your quest for success. Sometimes, that’s all that might help to keep you sane.

3 Focus On Your Personality

Have you noticed how certain successful people can just fill a room by the sheer force of their personality? Cultivating a charismatic personality is very important to success, particularly in the showbiz and entertainment industry. Scott Disick has got great looks and a great personality, so people naturally flock to him.

If you want to be popular and loved, you need to earn it from the people. So take a look at your personality and figure out ways to make yourself more charming and endearing to people. It will work wonders.

2 Don’t Let Your Mistakes Define You

We all make mistakes. We all goof up. We’ve all made decisions that we’ve later regretted. It’s all part and parcel of growing up and being human, but we shouldn’t let our mistakes define us or stop us from succeeding. Instead, we should learn from them and move on.

Scott Disick, for instance, has a juvenile criminal record. Even before he turned 18, he’s been arrested twice once for exceeding the speed limit and once for driving under influence. However, he didn’t let these incidents tarnish his reputation or jeopardize his career.

1 Go For What You Want

No one’s going to serve you success on a platter; if you want something, you have to go out there and get it. Scott Disick was born to a wealthy family, but his parents lost their fortune. But he didn’t let that faze him.

After becoming a household name on the Kardashians show, he started his own tv show, dabbled in modeling and real estate and even started a Japanese restaurant and hosted events in nightclubs. Pretty eclectic right? He also uses Instagram to document his lavish lifestyle as well as his journey.

So take the inspiration and chase your dreams till you catch them. And, while you’re at it, make sure you have some fun.

Amber Heard Debuts Brand New Short Pink Hair — See Before & After Pics

Amber Heard ditched her long blonde hair for a brand new, short pink hairstyle, which she debuted in LA on June 17!

Amber Heard, 33, drastically changed her look, when she was out and about in LA on June 17, with short hair, dyed a pastel pink. Amber has been rocking her long blonde hair lately, so when she stepped out with light pink hair, we were totally shocked. The actress was leaving a business meeting when she opted to wear an all-black, edgy business ensemble, which made her peachy hair stick out. She threw on a pair of mid-rise black skinny jeans with cropped and frayed ankles, paired with a sheer black tank-top tucked in. Cinching in her tiny waist was a thick black leather belt with a gold clasp, and an oversized wool blazer tied her look together. She topped her look off with a few layered gold necklaces and black patent leather oxford shoes. The best part of her look was without a doubt her new hair, though, as it was dyed a light pink with shades of peach. Her hair was down in natural beach waves, swept over to one side.

While Amber is always switching up her hairstyle, she hasn’t dyed her hair a totally different color, so her new pink hair was definitely a shock. Amber manages to pull off any outfit or hairstyle she tries out, though, and she can totally rock this new pink ‘do. Just recently, Amber stepped out in LA on June 9, wearing a sheer Re/Done Ribbed Tank in Optic White with no bra underneath, tucked into a pair of mid-rise black waxed skinny jeans, and accessorized with black and white oxford T.U.K. Original Footwear Perforated Jam Shoes and a large black leather Dean Accessories B15 Strap Tote Bag. Her blonde hair was left down naturally in beach waves, which dried in perfect curls.

Meanwhile, she showed off a slew of gorgeous hairstyles when she was at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, and one of our favorites was her hair at the Pain and Glory premiere on May 17. Amber looked stunning in a deep red, Mikado silk Elie Saab Fall/Winter 2019 Pret-A-Porter Collection gown featuring an asymmetrical ruffled bodice, paired with matching over-the-knee boots. However, her hair stole the show, as it was left down and straight, with the entire crown of her head slicked back in a sleek look. One side of her slicked back hair featured a high bouffant, as the rest of her hair was tight against her head.

Pink hair is seriously hard to pull off, and Amber just proved that she can pull off any look, as her new hair looks perfect.

Padded Headbands Are The Latest ’90s Trend To Make A Comeback

The headband is back and bigger than ever. (Blair Waldorf would surely approve.)

Headbands, or some version of them, have been worn for centuries. In Mesopotamia, men and women wore headbands to keep their hair back, according to Dazed Digital. In ancient Greek civilization, champion athletes and poets were awarded with laurel wreaths, a headpiece that sat around the back of the head.

Headbands became fashion accessories in the modern Western world in the 1920s, when flappers began wearing bedazzled, feathered versions of them. Even fashion designer Coco Chanel was a fan of headbands, as were Hollywood starlets throughout the entertainment industry’s golden age. In the 1980s, they gained widespread popularity in the form of sweatbands and in the 1990s, it was all about padded styles, which are once again ruling the headband market. Hillary Clinton loved them back then and Pippa Middleton is a fan now. The Duchess of Cambridge has worn the trend, too.

The most notable iteration these days came from the Prada spring/summer 2019 show, which saw models strut down the catwalk in extra-puffy headbands in a variety of prints and colors. Some were even covered with embellishments, like pearls and studs. (The Italian label’s accessory has naturally spawned some apparent knockoffs.)

Here’s a look at Prada’s extra-thick headbands:

Then there’s the influencer-loved headband by Lele Sadoughi, which features a knotted detail in the center. Sadoughi’s version of the headband hit the market in 2018, shortly before the spring 2019 runway shows. Eventually, influencers caught sight of her product and began sharing images of themselves wearing her headbands on Instagram, Sadoughi told Fashionista recently.

Here’s Sadoughi in one of her headbands:

Headbands, like barrettes and hair clips, add interest to any outfit. Pair one with a T-shirt and jeans to spice things up or wear one with a dress for a look that’s a little more regal.

Below, check out how individuals on Instagram are wearing the trend and find out where to snag one of these puffy headbands for yourself.

Khloé Kardashian's "Best Beauty Secret" Isn't What You Think It Is

Khloé Kardashian’s “Best Beauty Secret” Isn’t What You Think It Is

Khloé Kardashian has always been open about her beauty routine. (Who wasn’t all ears when she talked about her tips for getting her glowing, smooth skin back in December?) Younger sister Kylie Jenner asked Kardashian for her “best beauty secret” in her latest vlog, and you might be surprised that it has to do with her hands.

“I think people need to know this about you, like your hands, look like you’re 17 years old. She has the best, youngest hands,” Jenner said in the video, and Kardashian admitted that her best beauty tip is to put sunscreen on her hands.

“I have sunscreen in all of my cars, because [when you’re driving] . . . the sun is beaming on your hands,” Kardashian said. “Your hands and your neck tell your age.”

Yes, dermatologists would unanimously agree that slathering your hands (along with the rest of your body) is golden advice — but you might want to stash your sunscreen elsewhere. As convenient as it is to keep sunscreen in your car, the heat can cause the active ingredients in the lotion to break down.

In the video, Kardashian and Jenner discuss more beauty secrets, including Jenner’s shower routine and how long Kardashian takes to get hair- and makeup-ready. See the vlog ahead.

A Dermatologist’s Summer Skincare Plan

In the season of less is more, the difference between looking hydrated and looking dry as an Arizona desert can depend on your daily skincare routine. After all, your skin is your best accessory during the summer months, so it’s important to ensure it looks its best.

“Moisture is crucial for a healthy skin barrier,” says dermatologist Marnie Nussbaum, M.D. Here, the New York City-based skin expert shares five easy tips for achieving your most gorgeous skin—like how much time you should actually spend in the shower, the body cleanser you shouldn’t be using, and the SPF ingredients you should—to get you glowing like it’s golden hour on a summer Friday.

Take shorter showers

It’s been a long, frustrating day. You turn on the shower and let the water wash away stress. Revel in the serenity…just not for too long. “Shower too much, and the water can strip the skin of natural lipids, which in the end, actually causes your skin to dry out,” notes the pro. “I always suggest using lukewarm water. Take short showers—five minutes max!”

Whether you enjoy two-a-days at the gym or sweat through your shirt with the slightest temperature spike, limit the showers to once a day. Feeling a little ripe? “Gently wipe down with a wet washcloth instead,” says Nussbaum.

Make the most of your shorter showers with a Vitaclean shower head—it contains a filter to ensure you’re getting the cleanest water possible, and comes with a vitamin C filter pack you can add for extra nutrients and a spa-like scent.

Use a moisturizing body wash that works twice as hard

Even if you don’t take long showers, the products you’re using could be stripping away moisture on your skin. “Many people use bar soaps, which are the worst thing for your skin. They have a much higher pH, between 9 to 12 [on the scale]. Your skin is naturally between 5 and 6, which is more acidic,” says the dermatologist. Also, bar soaps can be a breeding ground for bacteria.

Dr. Nussbaum’s recommendation: Olay Ribbons Body Wash. Like all good-for-you cleansers, this one is paraben-free, but what sets it apart is that it also pulls double duty. “It moisturizes while it cleans,” explains the derm, “and uses ProGlycerin as a humectant.” Translation: Glycerin is a moisture-retaining substance.

The formula contains dual-stream technology: One ribbon, or phase, provides a luxurious, creamy lather to clean the body, while the other includes petrolatum (a moisturizing ingredient) to hydrate once you’ve cleansed. Plus, it goes 10 skin layers deep. Once out of the shower, pat—don’t rub—dry with a towel. Since the body wash is so hydrating, you don’t even have to worry about moisturizing.

Exfoliate to get the most out of your products

It may not be pretty, but sloughing off dead skin cells from the surface skin layer will help your products absorb into your skin better. “Exfoliate to get deeper penetration,” suggests Dr. Nussbaum. “Use alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) and sugar scrubs…nothing too harsh. You don’t want to cause irritation.”

Light exfoliation can also help with the appearance of cellulite. “When skin is dry, you can see more imperfections. [Try] a gentle loofah or soft bristle brush,” such as The Organic Pharmacy’s Skin Brush, to get rid of dead skin skills.

Apply sunscreen every two hours

Many sunscreens, especially the water-resistant variety, have chemicals or plasma concentrations that can clog pores, leading to breakouts and bacne (body acne). Instead, opt for SPF options that feature natural minerals like zinc oxide. Coola Mineral Body Organic Sunscreen, for example, is made with minerals that hydrate skin while protecting it from the sun. “I always tell my patients to apply mineral sunscreen with 30 SPF and UVA/UVB protection 20 minutes before going outside,” says Dr. Nussbaum. “Always reapply every two hours.”

This goes for both body and face. For the latter, use a light moisturizer with an SPF. “To reapply, there are a lot of mineral-based powders or lighter lotion-like formulas that won’t mess up your makeup. They’ll give you that dewy look,” suggests the pro.

Double down on hydration at night

For those who think too much moisture can be dangerous during the months when oil glands are on overdrive, Dr. Nussbaum says not to worry: “It’s hard to get too much hydration.” Moisturize twice a day and drink a lot of water.

When you’re ready to call it a night, treat extremities that are more prone to dryness with spa-like experiences. Try feet and hand masks, face products with hyaluronic acid—which holds 1,000 times its weight in moisture—and oils for the cuticles and lips, recommends the dermatologist. Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil can be used all over the body, so it’s a great product to keep on your bedside table for pre-bed application.

“It’s really important to emphasize spending money on the right products—effective products,” says Dr. Nussbaum. “Your skin really shows that.”

High Ponytails: 15 Stars Rocking The Sleek Hairstyle For Spring – Pics

The one hair trend that all of the celebs have been rocking lately is the high ponytail & they just proved it’s the chicest look for spring.

Ponytails never go out of style, as they are the easiest way to just throw your hair up and leave the house. However, one specific style of the trend is the sleek high ponytail that a ton of stars have been rocking on red carpets. Jennifer Lopez, 49, looked gorgeous at the 2019 CFDA Fashion Awards on Monday, June 3, at the Brooklyn Museum in New York, when she rocked a bright orange Ralph Lauren outfit. While we loved her look, it was her hair that stole the show. JLo opted for a snatched ponytail with extra long hair, done by Color Wow Creative Director and Celebrity Hairstylist, Chris Appleton. Chris first spritzed her damp hair with Color Wow Dream Coat Anti-Humidity Hair Treatment to create a strong base and add shine, before blow drying the hair to create a smooth finish. Then, he added Hidden Crown Clip-ins in a clock work pattern at the back of the head in the same direction of the ponytail. Once that was done, he sprayed Color Wow Cult Favorite Firm + Flexible Hairspray in the roots of the hair and brushed it all into a pony tail. After that, he applied Color Wow Cult Favorite Firm + Flexible Hairspray onto a toothbrush and combed up to the hairline to remove any flyaways, before finishing the look by curling the hair in sections.

Another one of our fave ponytail looks was Hailey Baldwin’s, 22, feminine look at the 2019 Met Gala on May 6 in NYC. Hailey’s hair was done by Jen Atkin, who prepped her damp hair with OUAI Wave Spray before blow drying her hair using the Dyson Airwrap Styler. Then, she attached Luxy hair extensions for length and sprayed Rita Hazan Root Concealer in light brown to blend extensions. After that, she applied Tancho stick to roots and then used a barbers brush to mold into a ponytail. A little black Alexander Wang bow completed the look.

The Kardashians love a sleek high ponytail, and Kourtney, 40, just rocked one at the amfAR Gala in NYC back in February. Celebrity hairstylist, Andrew Fitzsimons created her flawless hairstyle for the event, by prepping her hair with NatureLab TOKYO Perfect Smooth Blowout Lotion, before blow drying it upside down to smooth the hair when it’s pulled into a high pony. Then, he flat ironed the ends to ensure the ponytail stays straight and sleek, before putting in BeautyWorks Invisi-Tape Hair Extensions at the back of her head to give the pony length without adding bulk. Once that was done, he sprayed a brush with RUSK W8less Plus Extra Strong Hold Shaping & Control Hairspray and pulled all of her hair into a high pony just in front of the crown, before securing the ponytail with a hair tie.

There have been so many other celebrities who have been rocking high ponytails in the coolest ways possible, which you can see when you click through the gallery above. From Kendall Jenner’s, 23, high ponytail with fresh new front bangs, to Gigi Hadid’s, 24, middle parted sleek pony with waves, there are so many amazing looks.

The Zero-Gear Military Workout

Think you have what it takes to gear up and pass through a military-style bootcamp? You might not be going to basic training, but this simple bodyweight routine will help you to build up strength in your shoulders and chest while maxing out your upper body mobility.

Take on the two circuits, then test yourself with the benchmark workout. If you can’t pass the test, drop and give us 20. (Just kidding. Work your way up to a lower and lower score each week!)

Do 2 rounds of this circuit to bulletproof your shoulders. The first move trains shoulder stabilizers; the second warms up your rotator cuffs. Rest 15 seconds after each set.

135-Degree Wall Slide

Stand facing a wall, a few inches from it. Press your forearms flush against it, elbows bent 90 degrees, palms facing each other. Angle your forearms out slightly; this is the starting position. Squeeze your shoulder blades and slowly slide your arms up and out without shrugging; then slide them back down. That’s 1 rep; do 15.

90-Degree External Rotations

Hold your arms out to your sides and then bend your elbows so your hands and forearms point up (perpendicular to the floor), palms facing forward. Keeping your upper arms parallel to the floor, slowly rotate your forearms down toward the floor as comfortably as you can. Rotate them back up. That’s 1 rep; do 15.

Do 3 rounds of this circuit. Focus on contracting your back muscles each rep; both moves challenge middle-back, shoulder, and core muscles. Rest 15 seconds after each exercise.

Bent-Over Lateral Raise to Front Raise

Bend at your hips and knees so your torso is nearly parallel to the floor, arms dangling. Without moving your torso, take 2 seconds to raise your arms out to the sides until they’re parallel to the floor; then take 2 seconds to lower them.Use the same tempo to raise and lower your arms in front of you. That’s 1 rep; do 15.

Plank Speed Rows

Assume a pushup position, your hands slightly beyond shoulder width and feet hip width apart. Your body should form a straight line from ankles to head. Row one hand to your chest, keeping your hips square to the floor. Lower your hand; repeat with the other hand. That’s 1 rep; do 30, moving as quickly as possible with good form.

The Benchmark Workout

Do 10 rounds of this circuit. Start with 10 reps of each move; ladder down by 1 each round (so 9 reps of each move in Round 2, and so on). Then check the scorecard below.

Seal Pushup

Assume a pushup position, but with your fingers pointed outward. Keeping your core tight and elbows tucked close to your torso, bend your arms and lower your body until your chest nearly touches the floor. Pause and
push your body back up. Lock out your elbows; if you don’t, the rep doesn’t count. That’s 1 rep.

Lie on your stomach, arms in front of you. Simultaneously raise your arms, legs, and head off the floor. (If this hurts your back, leave your legs on the floor.) This is the starting position. Keeping your arms straight, rotate them out wide until your hands touch your hips (think snow angel). Return to the starting position. That’s 1 rep.

How quickly can you crush this circuit?
