Foo Fighters, Miley Cyrus, Dave Matthews and several other artists are lined up to perform at the three-day virtual Save Our Stages Festival, scheduled to take place October 16 through 18.

The event, in support of National Independent Venue Association’s Save Our Stages initiative, will encourage viewers to donate to the NIVA Emergency Relief Fund, which will benefit independent venues in danger of closing due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The initiative is also intended to spread awareness of the $10 billion Save Our Stages Act currently before Congress.

Comedian and musician Reggie Watts will be hosting the event, which will livestream on NIVA’s YouTube channel. It will include segments simultaneously airing on individual performer’s YouTube channels.

“The smaller music venues and the ones that are really struggling are not only culturally important, they are emotionally important,” Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl said in a statement.

NIVA’s board treasurer and executive producer of #SOSFEST, Stephen Sternschein said the idea for the online festival “started out with the premise that every great artist started their career at an independent, small stage, somewhere around the country.”

“We literally just started calling up artists one at a time, talking about NIVA and supporting us through our advocacy program and asking them if they’d like to perform at the festival,” he added.

The festival will feature performances from 35 artists recorded live from 25 independent venues across the U.S.

Brittany Howard, The Roots, Marshmello, Demi Lovato, Reba McEntire, Kelsea Ballerini, Finneas and Sebastian Yatra are among the other musicians set to perform during the three days.
