Jake Wood is the latest celebrity to throw support behind Piers Morgan after he sensationally quit Good Morning Britain earlier this week.

Piers 55, announced he had quit the hit ITV breakfast show on Tuesday evening after "refusing to apologise" for comments he made about Meghan Markle.

Controversial presenter Piers says he "doesn't believe" the Duchess of Sussex was left feeling "suicidal" during her pregnancy with son Archie — a comment which he has stood by.

Former EastEnders star Jake, 48, is now the latest star to show their support for Piers after he has left the nation and the world divided.

Jake took to Instagram to share an image of himself with Piers on the set of Good Morning Britain back in 2019 after the host had beaten him to the title of heat magazine's Secret Crush award.

He wrote to his 180,000 followers alongside the photo: "We would do well to remember this quote from Voltaire right now- 'I disapprove of what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it'.

"Whether you agree with him or not you have to respect @piersmorgan for having the courage of his convictions.

"Piers has been a great support to me over the years and I fully support him at this time. He'll be back bigger & better, trust me."

However, fans of the soap star were quick to disagree with him, as they flooded the comments section of the post.

One wrote: "It's absolutely ok to have a different opinion to others but where Piers is concerned his hatred of Meghan was an obsession & more than a bit disturbing if I'm honest."

A second added: "I feel he has an unhealthy obsession with his hate towards Meghan."

With a third writing: "I don't think anyone should have the right to call a suicidal person a liar without ramification. How on earth is that a courageous thing to do?!"

Naturally, Piers also had supporters on the post, with one writing: "Good luck @piersmorgan with your next venture whatever it might be.
