Helen Mirren was in town for the premiere of her new film with Ian McKellen, “The Good Liar” — but she truly turned heads when she showed up at a Sony PlayStation event for the new video game, “Death Stranding.”
Fans began to suspect that Mirren, who also stars in HBO’s upcoming “Catherine the Great,” spends her time playing video games in her trailer in between takes on the set.
But Mirren posted on Instagram that she was actually at the event — called “Fractured Worlds: The Art of Death Stranding” — because, “my stepson Alex … is responsible for the music in the new Sony PlayStation game … and all their other games.”
She added, “It’s groundbreaking brilliant and he is brilliant. Very proud stepmom.”
Afterward Mirren and her director husband Taylor Hackford were spotted at NYC meat mecca Old Homestead Steakhouse where, “she was rummaging through the PlayStation goodie gift bag, and commented on each item.”
When Mirren asked for a waiter for scissors to snip off her VIP wristband from the event, the restaurant kept it, we hear, to auction off for charity to support Refuge — an anti-domestic violence charity Mirren has supported.
