Piers Morgan, 56, has been speaking his mind once again as he fumed that James Bond should only be played by a man. The former Good Morning Britain host shared his thoughts in a new column following Labour leader Keir Starmer floating the idea earlier.
Piers has called out “wokies” wanting Bond to be played by a female actor.
The presenter was responding to comments earlier from Keir, who told ITV News: “I don’t have a favourite Bond, but I do think it’s time for a female Bond.”
Reacting to the news, Piers dedicated his latest column to the subject.
Speaking about previous Bond actors, he said: “They all understood very clearly that what the vast majority of people on Planet Earth want from their James Bond is an uncompromising womanizing assassin who’d rather shoot himself than drink from the woke fountain of insufferable virtue-signalling bulls**t.
“But, with a chilling inevitability, the wokies have now come for 007, and they present a more lethal threat to him than Oddjob, Goldfinger or Jaws ever did.”
Piers went on to add to the Daily Mail Online how female characters like Wonder Woman would not have the same treatment.
“It would be utterly preposterous to have Wonder Man replace Wonder Woman,” he continued.
“Just as it would be to utterly preposterous to see James Bond turned into Jane Bond. So back off our 007.”
Bond actor Daniel Craig recently shared how he also didn’t think the character should be played by a woman.
In an interview with the Radio Times, he said: “There should simply be better parts for women and actors of colour.
“Why should a woman play James Bond when there should be a part just as good as James Bond, but for a woman?”
However, some of his eight million followers disagree and have called Piers out over his comments when he shared them earlier today.
User M Jacobsen wrote: “Why can’t there be a Jane Bond?
“Different franchise – more movies more $$$ do they not see this?”
While another named Rich added: “You know James Bond isn’t a real man right, you know he’s a fictional character?”
Joe Fearnhough replied: “Take a chill pill it is only a film.”
Elsewhere this week, Piers took to social media to criticise Daniel Craig’s outfit to the No Time To Die premiere.
The outspoken presenter took issue with the star’s pink velvet tux on the red carpet.
Taking to Twitter, Piers posted in view of his eight million followers: “O dear O (7) dear.
“James Bond would never wear a garish pink suede dinner jacket.
“You’re supposed to be a steely-eyed assassin with exemplary sartorial taste, Mr Craig…. not an Austin Powers tribute act.”
However, many of Piers’ followers were quick to call him out for his criticism.
Joe Agerskow penned: “For a man who tells people not to be offended so easily, you really are offended quite easily.”
