Kate Ferdinand has candidly revealed she “cried every day” for five weeks after giving birth to her son Cree.

Former The Only Way Is Essex star Kate, 29, said she really struggled with the idea that she wasn’t able to do everything she possibly could for her baby boy, who came into the world in December.

Kate underwent an emergency c-section to deliver her son, who she shares with husband Rio Ferdinand.

And the new mum was bed-ridden for weeks as she recovered from the major surgery.

Although her husband Rio, 42, supported her, Kate felt sad and frustrated she wasn’t able to do things like changing her baby’s nappies and picking him up from his cot.

Kate, who recently admitted she “doesn’t love” her post-baby body, has told Fabulous magazine: “I think I cried every single day for about five weeks.

“You expect to be doing everything you possibly can for your baby and when you can’t… It was something I really struggled with.

“I was in my own little world, I felt really confused and had lots of anxiety and I didn’t think anyone understood.”

However, Kate revealed that being open about her struggles has helped her and encourages women to do the same.

Speaking about her decision to share a photo of her bruised body as she recovered from giving birth, Kate explained: “My body was bruised, I couldn’t walk up and down the stairs and I just thought: ‘Surely other people must be going through this too?’

“I felt very strongly that I wanted to be a voice of normality. I’m so glad I did it, because the response actually made me feel so much better.

“There were so many people who could relate to it and it normalised what I was going through.”

New mum Kate also gushed over her baby boy and opened up about the possibility of having more children someday.

She said: “We love him so much. He’s so funny, he’s going to be so cheeky. He was smiling at three weeks! He’s such a happy boy.

“I’m never going to say never, but at this moment in time I have four children and five seems like an awful lot!”

Kate is also step mum to Rio’s three children 14 year old Lorenz, Tate, 12, and nine year old Tia, who’s mother Rebecca Ellison tragically died in 2015 following a battle with breast cancer.
