Kelly Clarkson recently covered Phil Collins‘ “I Wish It Would Rain Down” for the “Kellyoke” segment on her talk show, “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”

Clarkson wore a blue flower print dress as she delivered the emotional cover accompanied by her band Y’all.

“‘Cause I know, I know I never meant to cause you no pain/And I realize I let you down/ But I know in my heart of heart of hearts/ I know I’m never gonna hold you again,” she sang.

“I Wish It Would Rain Down” is a song from Collins’ 1989 album …But Seriously, featuring lead guitar by Eric Clapton. The power ballad was a massive success in early 1990, peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Clarkson has covered several classic songs since “The Kelly Clarkson Show” premiered, including Fleetwood Mac‘s “Dreams,” Toni Braxton‘s “Another Sad Love Song,” Amy Winehouse‘s rendition of “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow,” Tina Turner‘s “A Fool In Love,” and Aerosmith‘s classic “Dream On.”
