Presenter Lorraine Kelly seemed to put her foot in it by announcing the gender of new author Laura Whitmore and Iain Stirling's baby on live TV on Thursday morning, leaving many ITV viewers in shock.

The Love Island star, 35, and her husband Iain Stirling, 33, who tied the knot last year, hadn’t yet announced the gender of their child, but Lorraine accidentally beat them to it on her daytime show.

It came after the Scottish host, 61, asked Laura more about her debut book, No One Can Change Your Life Except For You, as she began: “This book this comes from personal experience, it's lessons you have learnt along the way, isn't it? And also advice you want to pass on to your baby girl."

Viewers saw Laura in shock as her eyes widened and stumbled on her words: “Yeah, arm, well my baby, erm, yeah…”

She went on to clarify to her fans and Lorraine: “It wasn’t necessarily written when I knew I was pregnant.

“It’s not about pregnancy, I’ll tell you that now. It’s lots of things I’ve picked up on over the years.”

The star added: “Only because Laura writes in her book about her baby girl but I’m not sure they know!”

One of her followers supported her by writing: “Ahhh Well its going to come out sooner or later.. quite literally.”

It comes after Laura revealed she won’t be giving up her busy work schedule once her and Iain’s first child arrives.

“All my friends from school are doctors or teachers,” she shared with The Telegraph.

"The fact that I even thought it was possible to go off and work at MTV came from my mum because her attitude was: 'If you want to, then why not?'

“When people ask if I'm going to give up work this year because of the baby, I'm like, 'Why? Mum did it in '80s Ireland!'"
