Nigella Lawson told fans that she had received the best Valentine’s Day gift this morning, revealing that she’d been invited to have the Covid vaccination. The 61-year-old celebrity chef said it was the news she “really wanted to hear”.

Nigella took to Twitter to share the exciting news with her 2.7 million followers.

“In the words of Kelly Marie, My head is in a spin/ my feet don’t touch the ground….,” she wrote online.

The post referenced the lyrics from the 1980 track Feels Like I’m in Love.

“I have just had a beautiful text saying the words I really wanted to hear this Valentine’s: it’s from the NHS and they’re calling me in for my first jab!”

Many took to the comments section of the post to share their thoughts on the matter.

“Roses are red, violets are blue, go get that jab, and the second one, too,” one follower wrote in the form of a poem.

“I’m having my first one today. Such a great valentine’s gift from the wonderful #NHS,” another added.

A third person remarked: I’m NHS staff and had mine this very morning ….

“I didn’t know one of the side effects would be a tear or two… #grateful.”

Sharing a similar sentiment, another user said they also felt emotional following their vaccination.

“Yes, no one warned me that I would burst into tears as I parked up yesterday to get mine. What we keep inside.”

“Such an emotional thing it is too,” a fifth person agreed.

“Great news, be brave. Will definitely call for something chocolately afterwards,” another social media user remarked.

Nigella, who is currently on TV screens with her cookery show Cook, Eat, Repeat, is not the only celebrity to get booked in for their Covid jab this week.

Both Monty Don and Ruth Langsford received the vaccination yesterday.

The 60-year-old This Morning star said she was “so grateful” to receive hers, thanking everyone involved in an Instagram update.

Monty praised the NHS following an “Immensely impressive service”.

Earlier in the day, Nigella shared a recipe online in honour of Valentine’s Day.

Custard Cream Hearts perfectly fit the bill, despite the cook revealing that she wasn’t a fan of “cutesy” bakes.

Alongside a picture of the sweet treat and a link to the recipe, she wrote: “I’m not a huge fan of the cutesy, but Valentine’s Day or, in @orbyn’s memorable coinage, Pink Halloween, does seem to insist upon it, and so, without apology, Custard Cream Hearts are #RecipeOfTheDay.”
