Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas, 60, has taken to social media to reveal to fans that she is currently in hospital with a “shoulder and arm” issue. The dance professional gave fans the update while donning a hospital gown, as she explained that medical professionals were trying to find out what the cause is with a series of scans.

Having an arthrogram or something done today

Posting to her Instagram stories, the star told her 185,000 fans that she was currently in hospital.

Wearing a hospital gown and face mask, Shirley struggled to be heard as she relayed why she needed medical attention.

With her dark brown hair swept to one side, the BBC star still looked her usual glamorous self as she sported the tiniest hint of eye make up and her bag held against her.

She captioned the video: “Good morning, how’s your day going? Mine started with the hospital visit.”

Speaking through her mask, Shirley told her fans why she was in hospital.

She said: “So here we go again, in the hospital, with a shoulder and arm [problem] and I’m trying to find out what it is.”

Shirley explained that she was undergoing a series of scans to help get to the bottom of what was going wrong.

She continued: “Having an arthrogram or something done today, MRI’s and yes,” she said before quickly signing off.

The dancer’s update comes nearly a year after she was rushed to hospital with a broken ankle.

Taking to social media at the time, the star shared a clip of her walking on crutches with her foot in a boot.

She wrote: “Hi everybody. I’ve just finished at A&E and I’ve got a clean break on my right ankle

“So a clean break. Six weeks to heal. Thank you to NHS and all staff who took care of me. @danieltayloresq thank you for being there.

“Painful but I’ll trolly on. #cleanbreak #brokenankle. I’ll be fine for @bbcstrictly thank you for all the messages. #gratitude.”

Her boyfriend, Daniel Taylor, also updated his followers on Shirley’s condition, as he uploaded photos of her during the hospital visit.

He said: “In A&E with this brave soldier @shirleyballas!

“You can never say it enough but thank you to our amazing #NHS for your time and care and of course all the sacrifices you all make on a daily basis to look after our country. #livingangels.”

Last year the star gave a health update after having her “dangerous” breast implants removed.

Speaking to The Mirror, the Strictly judge told how her health had improved since she had the operation done and had remained illness-free since.

“This was the first time I have not been sick all winter. On last year’s tour I was really poorly but, touch wood, I have been fine.

“I was always ill with the flu or a cold. A lady who did my book said it could be the breast implants. Then I got that job on Strictly and did Who Do You Think You Are? and I realised I had cancer going back in my family.”
