The Duchess of Cambridge’s younger brother James got married last week in Bormes-les-Mimosas, a beautiful village in the Côte d’Azur. According to Hello Magazine, the couple’s dogs Ella and Mabel were flower girls, and the wedding was attended by Kate Middleton and her whole family, as well as Pippa and James Matthews and their children. Michael and Carole Middleton were also in attendance, which made Alizée’s wedding dress choice even more touching.

Alizée, 32, wore the exact dress James’s mother Carole Middleton wore on her wedding day with Michael.

It is a beautiful white floor-length gown featuring a Bardot neckline and embroidered detailing.

Alizée told Hello: “My something borrowed was in fact my dress from my mother in law Carole who last wore it 41 years ago on her wedding day in June 1980.”

She reportedly first tried on Carole’s wedding dress during lockdown when she and James were living in Bucklebury, Berkshire with his parents.

Alizée continued: “While talking about dresses with Carole and sharing ideas during lockdown for inspiration, I tried on her wedding dress and fell in love with it.

“It fitted me perfectly and was exactly what I wanted.

“It always troubled me that wedding dresses are only worn once so it was amazing to give such a beautiful dress a second lease of life.”

Alizée was a very elegant bride, and she wore her hair in a half up half down style, secured in place with a long veil.

Her meaningful outfit choice was very different from James’s siblings Kate and Pippa.

The Duchess of Cambridge wore a timeless gown from Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen with long lace sleeves and a full skirt.

Buckingham Palace released a statement on April 29, 2011: “Miss Middleton chose British brand Alexander McQueen for the beauty of its craftsmanship and its respect for traditional workmanship and the technical construction of clothing.

“Miss Middleton wished for her dress to combine tradition and modernity with the artistic vision that characterizes Alexander McQueen’s work.”

Pippa walked down the aisle in a high-neck, cap-sleeved ivory gown from British designer Giles Deacon.

David Emanuel, who designed Princess Diana’s wedding dress, spoke about Pippa’s dress, saying: “It’s simple and pretty. I predicted it would be soft and pretty and very English, which it is.”

James and Alizée’s ceremony reportedly took place at the town hall, and their beachside reception was held at Cafe Léoube, a restaurant at the edge of the Léoube Estate serving seasonal Mediterranean dishes.

The couple went there in a vintage 2CV driven by James Middleton.

James, 34, had been forced to postpone his wedding twice, as it was originally planned for May 2020.

Sadly, Alizée’s father passed away a few months ago, however, he had publicly given his blessing to his future son-in-law.

He told MailOnline at the start of their relationship: “James and the Middleton family are very charming.

“We have a lot of admiration for the whole Middleton family – James, his sisters and his parents.”
