MOM, fashion icon, sister – and lifestyle expert? At least that's how Kourtney Kardashian dubs herself on her website Poosh, which is filled with tips and tricks in everything from healthy eating to interior design.

And when I came across her "multi-tasking tips" article, I knew I had to give them a try – being a lifestyle reporter myself.

The first trick up Kourtney's sleeve when you're stuck in a meeting and have somewhere to be in the next hour is doing your makeup while on Zoom.

DOING MY MAKEUP ON ZOOM

On this particular day, I needed to run to a doctor's appointment after my pitch meeting and got up a little too late to get ready beforehand.

So, I did what Kourtney suggested and did my makeup while on Zoom with my co-workers.

That one wasn't a great idea. Despite their cameras being off, I could feel my co-workers judging me and was even called out by my editor.

CLEANING MY SINK WHILE WASHING MY HANDS

The mom-of-four's second suggestion was to clean my bathroom sink while washing my hands.

Now, I get where this one is going and it seems efficient at the moment.

But, she was quite unclear on whether I should clean the sink with my hands and hand soap or if I should clean first and wash my hands later.

So, I washed my hands and once I was done, I sprayed a cleaning spray and a brush to scrub my sink.

What should have taken 30 seconds ended up taking five minutes and I was forced to wash my hands right after again.

And let's not even talk about the uneasy feeling I had because I felt like I now needed to scrub my entire bathroom as well.

Again, I get where this tip was going but it's not something I'm willing to do while I work from home or first thing in the morning.

In another instance, sure, this could work.

NEVER LEAVE EMPTY-HANDED

In this tip, all you have to do is make sure that every time you walk into a room or walk out of one, you bring something along that needs to be put away.

Because according to Kourtney, there's always something you can put away.

And I agree – in fact, I've always done this.

When I wake up in the mornings, I usually grab the glass of water that spent the night on my bedside table back to the kitchen since it's on the way to the bathroom.

I also do the same when putting away things after a run to Target – I always grab all the things that go in my bedroom, including any sunglasses I used and clothes that need to be put away, and do one trip.

Simply put, this one works.

CLEANING WHILE RETURNING PHONE CALLS

According to Kourtney, catching up with your friends or family while cleaning your home might make the time pass by quicker.

And I couldn't agree more.

I can spend hours on the phone or on FaceTime with my best friend while scrubbing my bathroom or cleaning the stove, and it really does make it more enjoyable.

But don't get me wrong, I also love blasting music and just getting straight to work.

This hack is definitely a 10 out of 10.

SQUATTING AND BRUSHING MY TEETH

This one is special – Kourtney suggests that "the two minutes it takes to clean those pearly whites can also be spent giving your booty a little loving lift."

And although it was definitely a workout, I don't think this one is for me.

I live in a small New York City apartment – there's not a lot of space for this and honestly, I wasn't getting much brushing done while concentrating on proper form.

Maybe someone who has a bigger bathroom might be able to do this one a little bit better than me.

THE TAKEAWAY

I get it– multi-tasking is a great skill to have, especially at work.

However, there are just some things that you should never do at the same time: like doing your makeup on a Zoom meeting or squatting while brushing your teeth.

Trying to do all of them properly and at the same time takes a lot more effort than if you did them separately.

Also, you should definitely do your makeup or even clean while catching up with a friend but never during a work call. Only a Kardashian could do that since they're usually the boss.

But there are definitely a few ones I'll do again – or keep doing – like cleaning and being on the phone and taking every opportunity to return something to its rightful place.
