IT’S been two years since ‘Megxit’ and it appears the Sussexes are loving their new life in America, where they can rub shoulders with Hollywood’s elite.

Even yesterday’s news that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were being ‘evicted’ from their Windsor residence Frogmore Cottage didn’t seem to dampen their spirits.

The couple broke cover last night to attend a glitzy Los Angeles private members club, favoured by the rich and discreet.

It follows King Charles' order to sling them out of their former royal home after Harry levied a series of damning digs at the Royal Family in his memoir Spare.

The move has reportedly left the pair "stunned", with a source close to them explaining: “It all feels very final and like a cruel punishment.

But perhaps they can take solace in the glamorous life they have made for themselves across the pond.

£3,500 private members club

Despite Charles issuing a formal eviction notice, which experts predict may see the Sussexes' skip the King's Coronation, Harry and Meghan were spotted on a date night yesterday.

The couple were all smiles as they stepped out for their first night out since the release of Spare, at celebrity hotspot San Vicente Bungalows.

The exclusive club and eaterie costs £3,500 ($4,200) per year to join for anyone over the age of 35 and £1,500 ($1,800) for those who are younger.

Among its celebrity members are Hailey Bieber, Sandra Bullock, Kirsten Dunst and Kaia Gerber.

The lush spot has a policy that requires guests to cover their phone camera lenses with a sticker upon arrival.

Photography and videography inside the club is prohibited and attendees are reportedly banned from posting about the venue on social media.

An insider, who spotted the Sussexes, told Page Six they were in “extremely good spirits”.

Meghan wore a £1,345Caroline Herrera cape coat with a £522 pair of Christian Dior high heels.

San Vincente Bungalows isn't the only private membership club the couple eyed up in recent years.

In 2020, The Mirror linked them to the £240,000-a-year Coral Casino Beach and Cubana Club, favoured by Ellen DeGeneres and Michael Douglas.

Date nights & drive-thru orders

On another date night in November last year, the couple was spotted at the aptly-named restaurant The Duchess, in Ojai, California.

The diner is a bakery by day and a Burmese restaurant by night with meals including a £26 ($31) Lamb Biryani and £22 ($26) Pork Belly.

But it’s not all fine dining for Meghan and Harry. Last year the couple revealed they are fans of fast food restaurant In-N-Out Burger.

It has a number of celebrity endorsers including Julia Roberts, Adele, Reese Witherspoon and Lily Allen, who celebrated getting hitched with a meal there after her wedding service.

Meghan told Variety: “It's really fun to go through the drive-thru and surprise them. They know our order.”

Harry’s also a fan too, branding it “the best” and revealed the couple’s meals of choice: “I order two double-doubles, animal style, fries and a Coke! And that's just for me!

“Meg gets the cheeseburger and fries with sides of jalapeños. I just stick with ketchup and that special sauce of theirs. So good!"

Mingling with celebs

Since swapping Windsor for sunny stateside life, Harry and Meghan seem to have been embraced by A-listers and celebrity pals.

Last month, they were spotted at a star-studded gathering to mark the marriage vow renewal of Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi.

The celebrations, which were tied into talk show host Ellen’s 50th birthday, were enjoyed by celebs including Kardashians "momager" Kris Jenner – who officiated the ceremony – and US country star Brandi Carlile.

Harry and Meghan were spotted by eagle-eyed viewers after footage from the shindig was posted on Ellen’s YouTube channel.

In the clip, the Sussexes were standing apart and among a crowd of high-profile guests who presented Ellen with a watch.

Netflix set

While watching their Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan, fans were overwhelmed by the luxurious spot picked out for interviews.

The lush Montecito mansion was listed for £28million in December.

The Mediterranean and Spanish Revival style home, which roughly spans 13,600 square feet, has six bedrooms, seven bathrooms and multiple spacious living areas with grand door arches.

The palatial property has an outdoor dining area with a terrace, fireplace and heaters with phenomenal views of the palm tree-lined hills.

Other amenities included a gym, theatre, bar, games room, guest house, five-car garage and a large pool that nearly spans the width of the house.

Neighbourhood watch

Since June 2020, the Sussexes have lived in their own mansion, also in Montecito, which they reportedly snapped up for £12.2million.

Previously Meghan told The Cut: “We did everything we could to get this house… Because you walk in and go… Joy. And exhale. And calm. It's healing. You feel free."

Among their celebrity neighbours are Oprah Winfrey, Ariana Grande, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom – but the 'normal' residents appear to have a few reservations.

One neighbour, who wasn't thrilled about being a “Netflix extra”, told The Spectator: “People here want a quiet life.

“We do have some celebrities but they’re the type to hide away from the cameras instead of going looking for them.”

A second unimpressed local said their “friends turn their noses up at it all” and a third added: “Why are they doing this?”

Sprawling property

The couple seldomly share what their home looks like, but HELLO! magazine reported the plush pad is kitted out with a spa, tennis court, outdoor pool and even a private playground for their children.

Since moving in, they have kitted it out with a grand piano gifted to them by the actor Tyler Perry and are believed to have Soho House rose-water candles in each room.

On Meghan’s 40th birthday, a brief glimpse of her home office was shown when she launched a special initiative.

She was sat at a rustic wooden desk with a cream dining chair before a traditional stone fireplace and artwork that stated: “I love California.”

Later, the Duchess was filmed in her living room for a surprise appearance on America’s Got Talent.

She was sat on a large cream sofa with neutral coloured walls, and trendy artwork behind her supposedly gifted by Oprah Winfrey.

There was also a stack of books including Women: National Geographic Image Collection and another by celebrity photographer Annie Liebovitz, who photographed Queen Elizabeth II.

In September 2020, the Sussexes invited cameras into the garden, which sits as part of 7.3 acres and is framed with pines and cypress trees.

Other photos reportedly from their property being listed as a filming location showed a stunning wine cellar with a chandelier, large table and countless bottles in racks.

‘Beautiful & blessed life’

Harry and Meghan appear to love their new life in the US, and following the release of Spare, the Duke explained that it was “a privilege to be able to tell my story in my words”.

He told PEOPLE magazine: “[I] have poured my heart and soul into it, choosing each moment with care.”

Harry continued to share more about his new life in California with Meghan and their children Archie, three, and Lilibet, one.
