Right after partnering up with Italian retailer Slam Jam on the NOVABLAST, ASICS is broadening their collaborative horizons even further by tapping Spanish-Japanese imprint SHOOP Clothing and allowing them to put their own creative twist on the GEL-Nimbus 22. From a bird’s eye view, the low-slung rendition may come off as an ordinary all-black shoe, but up close is where you’ll find this joint venture packed with unique design details.
This monochromatic installment is manufactured with a textile and synthetic base layer that’s entirely engulfed in a stealthy skin, and features glossy finishes atop the lateral/medial tiger logos and toe boxes. However, the most enticing element that SHOOP brings into play here is the shroud which comes packaged with ripstop paneling that hugs the ankle in folded fashion and dips at the heel. There’s also a see-through layer at the midfoot, patent leather materials towards the bottoms and a zip-on-zip-off system that rests above the throat. Additional features to point out include that of the “S” shaped carvings that run throughout the midsoles, as well as the branded hits of ASICS tiny “a” logo printed near the ankle and SHOOP’s moniker spelled out on a block panel towards the middle of the treading.
Right now, this tonal makeup is being raffled off through select retailers like Sivasdescalzo for an MSRP of €290 (approx. $344 USD).
