So 2020 has been a bit of a write off where holidays are concerned – sigh – and with flight bans and isolation rules, a lot of us haven't been soaking up the sun half as much as we’d hoped.
However, in a bid to stay positive and cross our fingers for 2021, we’ve found a nifty way to double your annual year next year… and let’s face it, we need this now more than ever!
By taking off days around existing bank holidays you can cleverly boost your holiday days. Here’s what you need to know…

Book off three days at Christmas
Fancy ten days off? Of course you do! Luckily, Christmas falls in a way which will allow you to be work-free for quite some time if you book three days off.
If you do book these three days, you’ll be work free from 25 December to 3 January 2021. As Boxing Day falls on a weekend, December 27 becomes a bank holiday, so, if you book off 29, 30 and 31 December you’ll maximise your time off and be back in the office on January 3. That’s a very merry Christmas indeed.

Book off four days at Easter
Journeying on to the next holiday, in 2021 the four day Easter weekend falls between between April 6-9. So, to get extra days off and make it a ten, yes ten, day break, you simply have to take four days between April 2 and April 5.
This will make your Easter break last from 2 April all the way until 11 April. Bring us the chocolate!

May bank holidays can really generate some extra holiday days.
The bank holidays aren’t too near each other in May, but for a whopping eighteen days away from the office, you simply have to book eight days off – sorry, what?!
Yes, in the first week you’d take 4-7 May off after the 3 May bank holiday, then you’ll book 1-4 June out of office, following the bank holiday which happens on 31 May, et voila!

Book off four days in September
For those extra September days off you’ll need to book just four days off.
If you book four days off after the August bank holiday – 31 August and 1, 2, 3 September – you’ll get yourself that last bit of summer sun and a whopping nine days off.

Book off three days in December
And we’re back to December, this time in 2021, and you can get a total of nine days off if you play your cards right.
You’ll have to book off 29, 30, 31 December out of office and it’ll mean you’ll be away on holiday from 24 December until 3 January. Love it!
