Let’s face it, 2021 hasn’t been the easiest of years – which is why some haven’t taken very well to the rumours that Boots’ cult favourite Essentials Curl Creme, usually£1.99 here, has been discontinued.
The bargain formula has nearly 900 five-star reviews on its product page, with curly and coily-haired users praising the cream on its ability to shape and hold curls better than most high-end formulas. The situation is getting drastic for some fans though, who have been reporting empty shelves and no online stock for weeks.
“I had to drive 1 hour and 40 minutes to get to the only shop within 100 miles of me that had a tub of this available. Worth every second of that journey,” one user wrote last week.
Another lamented: “I’m reading that this may be discontinued?! Please don’t Boots! Like many others, it’s a brilliant product. Lasts ages and works brilliantly on my mix of curls and straight-ish hair. I’m hoping that I’ll see stock soon on here. I’ve tried so many other products but this is the best by far.”
Some fans of the Essentials cream are missing the hero product so much that they’re willing to spend up to £50 to get their hands on a tub, which is the price it’s currently selling for on eBay. That’s a whopping 2,500% mark-up!
We understand your need for a bargain, so we reached out to Boots to address the rumours on it being discontinued. The good news? It hasn’t.
“We don’t have an exact date but the product will be in stock early next year,” a representative said.
There you have it – you might have to wait a few weeks but the curl cream is on its way back to shelves. We’re sure its legions of fans will be delighted. If you’re looking for something else to tame your curls and tide you over until it returns, we have some top-rated suggestions.
