A retail worker shared her top tips for bagging discounts in Home Bargains.
Grace Payne, who worked at the store for two years, said you can even get items for 1p if you play your cards right.
Apparently, customers should look for items that are about to be discontinued.
For example, shopping for Christmas decorations in January could get you some great deals for the following year.
The employee told Fabulous : “If stock has been in the shop for a while it will often get discounted because they might be trying to discontinue it.
“So it is sometimes worth waiting to see if something has the price knocked down – you could even get it for a penny.”
If you notice a fault in an item, you can also ask a manager to reduce the price for you.
Make sure you are being genuine when doing this – they can always tell when you’re lying!
Grace said: “If you think something isn’t up to scratch tell the manager – they’ll take you seriously and often offer a discount."
The third way to get money off at Home Bargains is to look for “star buys”.
These tend to be right at the front of the store to pull customers in.
You can get all manner of deals in this area – from cleaning products, to chocolate and gift sets.
According to Grace, newly-opened shops have better star buys than others.
This is to pique shoppers’ interest – so make sure to drop in if a Home Bargains opens near you.
