DEAR DEIDRE: LAST week I got a call from a nurse to say my 18-year-old daughter was in hospital after taking an overdose.

I’m her 48-year-old mother and I’m devastated. I don’t know how to help her.

She was raped last year by a male friend at university, and since then her life has spiralled down into despair and depression.

She dropped out and came home to live with us.

Before that she was so happy and full of life and ambition.

I don’t know where to go to get her the professional help she needs.
I’m paranoid she’ll try to take her own life again.

She has so much to live for, but she can’t see it.
