Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge dazzled on Thursday night as they represented the Royal Family at the Royal Variety Performance. The event marked a rare date night for the couple without their three royal children, and both were dressed up to the nines for the glamorous occasion.

On Thursday night the Royal Albert Hall was full of high-profile guests, and William and Kate made sure their eveningwear was up to scratch.

William wore a blue velvet suit and bow tie, while Kate looked every inch the future Queen in a bottle-green sequin number.

The floor-length dress was perfectly accessorised with a pair of green heels, a clutch bag and a dramatic makeup look.

Kate also wore her famous long locks down with a curl and was the picture of happiness as she smiled and greeted attendees.

While Kate certainly managed to cause a stir with her outstanding fashion choice, she also managed to catch the attention of her husband.

Body language expert Judi James told Express.co.uk that William was “constantly looking back” at Kate as the pair arrived at the historic venue.

Ms James said: “William really was in ‘Prince Charming’ mode last night, quietly pointing out the red carpet to Kate as she walked up behind him to avoid any risks of tripping in her stunning green dress and constantly looking back throwing her admiring glances before waiting for her to catch up so they could walk in together.

“The pair worked independently but these moments of concern and their signature trait of subconscious mirroring (waving at the same time in the same way without being side by side) suggested she was very much at the front of his mind.

“William’s eye-checks of his wife suggested utter pride while his signals of positive anticipation suggested he was also looking forward to the show.”

William seemed to be in good spirits for the event, with his body language suggesting he was excited for a night of entertainment.

Ms James added: “He rubbed his hands together to show that anticipation and he performed a hand clap and rub gesture as he walked through the door to show the assembled entertainers that he was raring to go and keen to meet them.

“With historic rumours that the royals have found the Royal Variety Show a bit of a chore, these signals of enthusiasm would bring some welcome motivation.”
