The Queen is to open the grounds of her Sandringham Estate to host a huge open-air cinema event.

The Luna Cinema has confirmed that it has managed to secure the royal residence for an upcoming event this summer.

For the first time, Sandringham will open its gates to the public as the location of one of 50 film screenings set to take place between July and October.

Event-goers can choose from four films that will be showing on the big screen at Sandringham in July.

Grease, The Greatest Showman, Pretty Woman and Bohemian Rhapsody are all scheduled to be shown at the royal location.

The screen will be located on the West Lawn in the formal Gardens of the private home to four generations of British Monarchs since 1862.

Tickets for the events went on sale May 7 and the basic pass costs £15.50 with optional extras such as luxury seating available at an extra cost.

The Queen’s country home is located on the Sandringham Estate which is where the royals spend Christmas.

It is also where the Duke of Edinburgh spent much of his time following his retirement in 2017.

Sandringham Estate is also home to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s second home Anmer Hall where they spent much of the UK lockdown.

Last week it was reported that the estate now produces its own brand of beer using the plants grown on the grounds.

The bottle states that the beer has been “made in the UK for the Sandringham Estate” and add: “The Sandringham Estate is a wildlife haven for pheasants, hares, owls and many other species thrive in the wood and farmland habitats.”

Sandringham bitter costs £3.99 for a 500ml bottle, which is about 2.5 fl oz short of a pint, and is produced by Barsham Brewery in north Norfolk.

The bottled beer joins the carefully curated drinks on offer at the gift shop which also include a sell-out CBD infused soft drink.
