Two men are being sought by police after attempting to abduct a 10-year-old boy as he walked home from school in Cambridgeshire.

Officers were called to reports of suspicious circumstances on Histon High Street at around 4.30 pm yesterday, January 14.

It was reported to the force that a young boy had been approached by two men outside the Post Office.

According to local sources, the men were trying to convince the boy to go with them but fortunately, he refused and managed to get home safely.

Since the incident happened parents and carers of local children have been advised to speak to their kids and make sure they keep safe on their routes home from school.

A letter which was sent out to parents and carers of students at Impington Village College said: "It has been brought to our attention that yesterday a student from Histon and Impington Junior School was approached by two men outside the Post Office in Histon, while on their way home from school around 4.30pm.

"They were trying to convince the student to go with them but fortunately they refused and managed to make their way home safely.

"We would like you to be aware of this incident and to speak to your children on how to keep safe while on route to and from school, and to be aware of their surroundings at all times.

"We will also be speaking and making all students aware of this incident prior to the end of the day."

Cambridgeshire police have confirmed that they were called to reports of suspicious circumstances on the High street in Histon where a 10-year-old boy was approached by two men.

No arrests have been made at this time but enquiries are continuing.
