I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star Boy George has revealed the reason why he refused to strip off during his time in the jungle.

The 61-year-old finished in eighth place on the latest series, but during his time in the jungle he was reluctant to bare all on television.

In stark contrast to his campmate Mike Tindall, who has frequently been seen on screen in small, brightly coloured speedos, George would even construct a makeshift cover up out of his jungle shirts to wear around the pool.

George made the admission in his 2005 autobiography Straight that he is an "un-naturist".

Writing about his love of photography, the Culture Club frontman dedicated an entire chapter to "rude snaps".

In it he wrote about one of the first models he photographed – American porn star Johnny Hazzard – and how he was at ease stripping off.

He said: "I managed to secure Johnny through my drag queen pornographer friend Chi-Chi La Rue."

"The day I worked with him I was the one shaking," George revealed.

"I started him off in full Rude attire and slowly he stripped off completely.

"His absolute ease about being naked was completely at odds with myself, being an un-naturist. I dress up, not down."

George's desire to dress individually saw him accessorise in style, even in the jungle.

The pop icon gave his I'm A Celebrity hat a makeover, cutting it into a crown-like style and chose his customised polka dot shirt from the I'm A Celeb promotional photoshoot as his luxury item.

Following his jungle exit, Boy George became the first campmate to not do press.

The singer received the fewest votes from the public on Tuesday 22 November's episode after being in the bottom two with Chris Moyles.

While evictees normally do interviews with TV’s daytime shows like Good Morning Britain and Loose Women, George was nowhere to be seen on our screens.

An insider told the Mirror: "It is thought Boy George won't do his first interview until he gets back to UK next week.

"The singer has teased he has lots to say so fans will be waiting for what's sure to be an explosive run down of his time in camp in full."

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
