  • GETTING IT OVER THE LINE

Arsene Wenger’s bid to fast-track new offside rules in time for Euro 2020 has hit the buffers.

The FA want to delay his proposed changes until 2021 — and Wenger also faces opposition from his new colleagues at Fifa.

SunSport revealed the former Arsenal manager’s masterplan to rule an attacking player will be deemed onside if any part of their body is level or behind the last defender.

Fifa’s new lawmaker Wenger insisted there “is time to do this very quickly”.

And he wanted to drive through the plans at next week’s International Football Association Board (Ifab) AGM in Belfast.

That would have seen the idea made part of the game from June 1 and rolled out for Euro 2020.

  • MORNING CHELSEA FANS

Chelsea are still reeling from Monday’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester United.

Many feel the Blues were robbed during the Premier League clash.

But things could get better this weekend when Chelsea welcome Spurs to Stamford Bridge.

Jose Mourinho’s men suffered a 1-0 defeat to RB Leipzig in the Champions League last night.

And Frank Lampard will be sure to analyse the German club’s performance so he can figure out a plan for Saturday.

Meanwhile, the transfer rumour mill is well and truly alive despite the summer window being some way off.

It’s reckoned Olivier Giroud has been offered a pre-contract by Lazio after his cameo appearance against the Red Devils.

Giroud is out of contract this summer and is thought to be a top target for Inter Milan.

But Lazio appear to have stolen a march on their rivals by offering the World Cup winner a lucrative deal.

As for Chelsea’s incomings, it’s reckoned they are eyeing a stunning £50m move for Birmingham’s Jude Bellingham.

The 16-year-old is rated as one of the hottest properties in Europe.

But it’s believed Chelsea could hurt their chances of getting academy-trained Faustino Anjorin to commit should Bellingham arrive.

  • FAUST AND THE FURIOUS

CHELSEA’S £50million pursuit of Birmingham’s Jude Bellingham could dent hopes of tying fellow whizkid Faustino Anjorin to a long contract.

SunSport exclusively revealed the Blues have joined Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona in eyeing Brum’s youngest-ever first-teamer, 16-year-old Bellingham.

But although Stamford Bridge boss Frank Lampard has pushed youngsters forward this season, chasing Bellingham might make it even harder to persuade 18-year-old Anjorin to sign a new deal up until 2025.

Goal.com suggest Chelsea have already been struggling to keep Anjorin, whose debut came as a sub in the 7-1 EFL Cup win over Grimsby last September.

  • KANT DO IT ALONE

N'Golo Kante will miss the next three weeks of action, according to L'Equipe.

The French paper states that the Blues' key man suffered a small tear to his abductor muscle against Man Utd.

Should he be out for that length of time, it would mean missing games against Tottenham, Bournemouth and Everton in the Premier League, Bayern Munich in the Champions League and Liverpool in the FA Cup.

  • MONARCH OF THE GLEN

Former Chelsea right-back Glen Johnson is backing the Blues to finish in the top four, despite the recent 2-0 defeat against Man Utd.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “I think they’ll have enough [for a top four finish]. I

” said at the start of the season that fourth would be an unbelievable season from where Lamps (Lampard) picked them up.

“I think what they would have done with previous bans I think getting anywhere near fourth would’ve been a good season. Forget home and away form, I think they’ve had a great season.

“Continue the way they are I think they will get fourth anyway and I don’t think they’ll need to rely on [Manchester] City to get a ban to qualify for the Champions League.”
