CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN wishes his future could have been sorted at the click of a button after a summer of speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid.
Rumours ramped up when the Tottenham Hotspur star admitted he was seeking a new challenge but the player reckons "it wasn't" the wrong thing to do.
Speaking to the Danish media ahead of the international break, Eriksen stated his wish that transfers were as easy as they are in football sim game Football Manager.
He confessed: "I wish I could decide just like in Football Manager, but unfortunately I can't."
Much of the increased speculation was down to Eriksen's contract being up at the end of the season, the midfielder felt.
And he wryly implied that he should have been househunting in Madrid, such was the height of gossip about his future.
He remarked: "For me it's not hard to clear my head. I don't read much of what is written.
"And now I have been involved for many years, where there have been many rumours every year.
"But it's clear that it's been a little more rife this year because my contract is about to expire. There has been a lot said about me.
"I should have been looking at houses in Madrid [according to the speculation], but I have to be honest and say that all that writing is not something that bothers me. At all."
Rumours are commonplace for almost every player at a club like Spurs these days and Eriksen admitted that they are brought up in the dressing room.
However, any remarks tend to be jovial.
Eriksen noted: "We tease each other.
"This is how it is in a top club if you have done well.
"There will always be rumours. Whether it's about me or a teammate."
