TIGER ROLL rolled back the years with a simply stunning Cheltenham Festival win.

But still the two-time Grand National hero – trained now by Denise Foster at Gordon Elliott's yard – will not get a shot at history in the Aintree showpiece.

Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary owns the superstar, who won this Cheltenham race for a third time.

And it was Tiger Roll's FIFTH Festival win.

But he said his stable star will not run at the National because of a spat over the weight the horse would carry.

That did not matter in the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase over 3m 6f though.

Tiger Roll, a money-making machine for O'Leary, won at what now seems monster odds of 9-2.

Evens money favourite Easysland was way behind in second place, while Some Neck came third at 17-2.

Delighted jockey Keith Donoghue labelled this wonderhorse a 'legend' afterwards.

But still punters will be disappointed not to see him get a chance to equal the iconic Red Rum with three National victories.

But that should be a footnote on what was Tiger Roll's first win since the 2019 Grand National.

The 11-year-old looked a tired campaigner when finishing last by 65 lengths of his previous run at Navan.

And previous to that he was pulled up at this very course back in November.

But the cobwebs were well and truly blown away today.

Michael's brother Eddie said: "You couldn’t put into words what that means. What a legend. What a bloody legend.

"There is no end to him. You couldn’t retire him after that. I’m delighted for the whole team at Cullentra. It means the world to us all."
