Alan Titchmarsh shared his wife's hilarious reaction to his selfie with Tom Cruise at The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebration during ITV's special show on Sunday.

The presenter, 73, and Tom, 59, are two of several celebrities to be presenting a portion of the ITV extravaganza, alongside hosts Phillip Schofield and Julie Etchingham.

Speaking at the start of the special show on Sunday 15 May, Phillip, 60, hilariously asked Alan: "I just wanted to make sure you got your selfie!"

To which Alan, who has been married to wife Alison since 1975, replied: "I did! My wife said to me, she's only ever asked for two selfies. One was Hayley Mills, which I got as I interviewed Hayley a while ago.

"We're asked for selfies all the time, which is lovely and it's not a problem, I'm a bit reluctant to ask for them myself.

"She said: 'If you get a selfie of you and Tom Cruise, I'll take the grandchildren off the screensaver!'"

It comes after Alan a ddressed the "unusual" roster of celebrities taking part in the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebration.

Alan remarked on just how grateful he is to be taking part alongside the likes of Tom, Dame Helen Mirren, Damian Lewis and Adjoa Andoh.

"Tom Cruise and I are not a natural pairing, but I'm all for breaking out the mould!" he said.

"I know Adjoa Andoh and some of the other presenters and I suspect we are all just grateful to have been asked to participate.

"It will be the most spectacular evening and I suspect we'll all just be anxious to get it right."

The varied roster of stars announced for the show has certainly got people talking, especially when it comes to the combination of Alan and A-lister, Tom.

In response, Alan said: "Well, it's raised a few eyebrows and given rise to a few comments, but it has also raised the profile of the event.

"At least I was described as a 'Gardening A-lister', so that will do me, though as well as being a man of the earth, I have also been a television presenter and talk show host for more than thirty years now.

"I just want to get out there and do a good job, and I am sure Tom Cruise feels the same."
