With the sun starting to come out more and more, people everywhere are getting to grips with their gardens, including green-fingered BBC Breakfast host Ben Thompson. And it looks like the staff at Arundel Castle have been working their magic in the garden as well, as Ben and Naga Munchetty cut to weather reporter Sarah Keith-Lucas surrounded by an abundance of brightly coloured and stunning tulips from the location. But spotting the chance for a putdown of her co-host, Naga couldn’t resist a jibe about his own skills.

“Now Ben,” Naga began before cutting to Sarah at the castle grounds.

“You’ve been moaning the fact you can’t grow a decent tulip.

But the BBC Breakfast host, who’s standing in for Charlie Stayt, was quick to defend himself: “I can grow them, and they were amazing last year.

“But they were rubbish this year. Only one had a flower, the others were just leaves.”

Quickly dismissing her co-star’s protests, Naga reiterated: “So you can’t grow a decent tulip, so I’m gonna show you some decent tulips.”

Ben tried to laugh off the jibe but quickly hit back with a dig of his own.

“Have to make it so personal,” Ben swiped back at Naga after she slammed his gardening.

And it threw Naga off-script as she tried to cut to Sarah: “Because Sarah – it’s not personal, it’s just fact.”

Naga eventually introduced the BBC weather reporter: “Sarah’s literally among the most beautiful tulips,

“And those purple ones, those mauvey purple ones, they’re my favourites because they just look so different. Morning, Sarah.”

The back and forth between Naga and Ben didn’t stop there, however, as the latter dished out another jibe.

“She’s just showing off,” Ben quipped over Naga’s use of the terms for the flowers.

Laughing off yet another swipe, Naga weighed back in: “Wasn’t the technical name for it.”

The pair eventually quit the swipes at one another for Sarah to deliver the forecast for the day.
