THE world turned back to disco in 2020, thanks to records by Dua Lipa and Kylie Minogue.

And one of the genre’s pioneers, Chic star Nile Rodgers, can see why.

In an exclusive chat, he said: “Maybe it’s because of the same reason why disco was important when it first surfaced.

“We were in such a tumultuous period and it was the one form of music which brought everyone together. It’s real escapist music.”

The resurgence has sparked a new version of Chic’s 1977 song Everybody Dance with Nile, Cedric Gervais and Franklin, out today.

And Nile has more music on the way, including the theme to next month’s Coming 2 America sequel, which will see Eddie Murphy return.

He revealed: “I’ve co-written the theme song, which is based on my original theme song.

“When we did the first Coming To America I was on the Paramount lot while they were shooting.

“They had it from Eddie Murphy that they had to wrap principal photography by a certain date because he had seen a film called The Man Who Saw Tomorrow and Nostra-damus pre-dicted the day of the great California earth- quake in this film.

“He insisted on having it all filmed by then because he needed to be out of California.”

Nile has also been working on “about 70 to 100 projects” with everyone from Keith Urban to Idina Menzel.

There’s no stopping him.

Fresh new tunes

Alfie Boe and Michael Ball’s joint album Together At Christmas is out today.

Michael said: “Me and Alfie, together at Christmas, I can’t think of anything better.”

Also releasing a record today are the Spice Girls with a re-issue of their last studio album, Forever, on vinyl for the first time.

In the singles world, KSI is dropping a remix of Really Love with Tinie Tempah and Yxng Bane.

Rihanna waddles out to dinner

I NEVER knew she was such a football fan – but Rihanna’s hair seems to pay tribute to ex-England footballer Chris Waddle.

Thirty years on from the Three Lions’ run to the semi-finals of the Italia ’90 World Cup, when the winger had his hideous mullet, RiRi seems to have recreated the look.

She sported her new hairdo on a visit to Los Angeles restaurant Giorgio Baldi.

The singer teamed printed trousers and a T-shirt with a picture of marijuana – which she surley smoked before going along to the hairdresser’s.

For the first time ever, I can safely say I’ve got a better barnet than Rihanna.

Girls in reunion?

NADINE Coyle reckons a Girls Aloud reunion is on the cards . . . for 2022.

It would mark 20 years since Cheryl Tweedy, Sarah Harding, Nadine, Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts teamed up.

Nadine said: “There’s always talk, ‘You should do a reunion tour’. What’s wild is that in 2022, it’ll be 20 years since we’ve been together.”

Of their 2013 split, she said on the My Wardrobe Malfunction podcast: “We’d had a break and to go back to that pace of working and scrutiny, I think people were like, ‘Forget this – I can work less, have a good quality of life and not be a part of this madness all the time’.”

Kylie's warming up for Xmas

IT’S always nice to have a reminder that somewhere in the world it’s hot and sunny, and Kylie Jenner has done exactly that.

The Kardashian family member posed by the pool at her Los Angeles home in a red bikini, while I layered up for a chilly November morning.

She really rubbed it in that her part of the world was enjoying some amazing weather with a number of poses showing off her highlighted hair.

Kylie, who is bringing out a festive-themed cosmetic range based on the movie The Grinch, told fans on Instagram: “My Grinch collection launches tomorrow.”

With all that hot weather, and another money-spinning make-up line, it’s all going swimmingly for Kylie.

Paloma's Plan B on love

PALOMA FAITH is one independent woman. She says she’ll happily divorce her partner if the relationship goes south — and they’re not even married.

The singer is pregnant with her second child with Leyman Lahcine, who she refers to as “my husband”. She has been dating the French artist since 2013, having married taxidermist Rian Hayes in 2005 and divorcing a year later.

She said: “I was one of those young people who was made to believe that relationships that last are perfect, that parenthood is the biggest gift of all and you would never have any negative feelings, and I think that’s not fair.”

She said of relationships: “Sometimes they annoy the s**t out of you.”

And she added: “Then sometimes parenthood is like a constant battle between loving your child so much and losing yourself, making big sacrifices and sometimes feeling like you’ve failed.

"You’re not prepared for all those things.

“There’s always Plan B if that doesn’t work. Thank God for divorce.”

Better behave, Leyman.
