For the past two weeks, BBC Breakfast has been missing from television schedules as Olympics coverage took over. Dan Walker was on hand to present the latest headlines from the Tokyo 2021 Games with Sam Quek. As a result, when BBC Breakfast returned from a break, Dan was missing from the presenting line-up.
Many of those tuning into BBC Breakfast on Monday morning were disappointed to see Louise Minchin on the sofa with Jon Kay.
After two incredible weeks for Team GB, Dan was missing from television screens as he takes a break after presenting the Olympics coverage.
Instead Louise and Jon took their place on the iconic red sofa to deliver the latest national news and speak to a number of Olympians returning home.
Taking to Twitter to comment on Dan’s absence and the end of the Olympics, many viewers shared their devastation.
One viewer commented: “Woke up this morning tired and bleary-eyed and couldn’t wait to see @mrdanwalker and @SamanthaQuek on Olympic Breakfast…….then I realised. Just a 3 year wait.”
Another added: “It ain’t the same without the Olympics and @mrdanwalker @SamanthaQuek on BBC 1.”
“The Olympics ending is sad. Last 2 weeks was full of great moments and positivity,” a third posted.
“Now! Politicians return in front of camera to bring back the negativity, the bitching and to divide the public for their own ends. Can’t wait for para Olympics to start.”
