She came back into Lola’s (played by Danielle Harold) life after finding out about her brain tumour and wanted to make amends after not being there for her during most of her life. As Lola’s brain tumour takes her life, Emma leaves Walford with Patsy recently filming her exit scenes, leaving the iconic square after a brief visit.

Patsy recently joined The One Show hosts Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas to discuss her time on the show where she admitted she was a “superfan”.

Alex expressed: “Some of your family are from the East End aren’t they so this is a proper dream come true for you being in EastEnders.”

Patsy praised working with Danielle: “This was a job I always wanted, [I] always wanted to be on the show and I auditioned years ago for a part and I didn’t get the role and I was gutted.

“Then suddenly it came back to me and I got offered Emma and then got to work with the wonderful Danielle Harold who plays Lola.

“She is just brilliant and we had the best time together. The whole cast, the crew, the whole experience was fantastic and I am a super fan.

“So the first week for me I was terrified because it’s like, first of all, all of these people that I just idolise and then having to work with them and everyone was just wonderful.”

Picking up on her excitement for the show, Jermaine asked: “What was that like though Patsy? I mean you have worked alongside Mel Gibson and Elizabeth Taylor.

“Does it mean that much to you to meet the stars you have watched I am guessing your whole life?

“Were you star-struck when you saw some of the characters?”

Patsy admitted: “Oh it was as big as Liz and Mel. Course I was, first when I saw Phil Mitchell I froze, threw me!”

Stunned at the revelation, Alex exclaimed: “Phil Mitchell! Patsy Kensit over the edge! This is amazing.”

Laughing at the notion, Patsy added: “Absolutely, but I had met some of the cast over the years at things so I had met people.

“But Danielle and I had never met before and then Jamie Borthwick who plays Jay who is the funniest guy on planet earth.”

After filming her final scenes on Walford, Patsy took to her Instagram and wrote: “Cannot thank my amazing cast members at the simply awesome experience I’ve had working on @eastenders for being so kind and loving to me.

“Big thank you to the BBC, the producers, writers, crew and the EE family. Costume, makeup, AD’s, Ang at the help desk.

“Jamie and Danielle for making me laugh my arse off every day. I love you both… Emma Barton… so so many people… A new adventure begins.” (sic)

In upcoming scenes, Lexi Pearce (Isabella Brown) plans out Mother’s Day with mum Lola, though an uninvited Emma decides to tag along.

Things get more heated as Emma continuously interferes, with Lexi eventually losing her temper over having to share Lola for the day.

Emma quickly realises she has gone too far and offers to leave, though Lola suggests she heads back to the flat while she talks to Lexi.

Later back at home, an uncomfortable topic leads Emma to walk out, ruining Lola’s hopes of a nice family evening. Worried that her mum has rejected her once again, Lola is left concerned by Emma’s abrupt exit, leading an angry Jay to have a word with Emma.

Speaking to her privately in the car lot, he tells Lola’s mum that she has a choice – either stick around or never return again.

The One Show airs weekdays from 7:30pm on BBC One.
