Emmerdale viewers have been keeping a close eye on the iconic Woolpack in recent weeks, as the pub has been struggling to stay afloat. Co-owners Chas Dingle (played by Lucy Pargeter) and Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) have been looking for ways to keep the pub running, but have recently received an offer of investment from Al Chapman (Michael Wildman). Unbeknown to Chas, her husband Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) is currently being blackmailed by Al. Will Paddy reveal the truth to his wife or allow Al to buy in the pub?
The Woolpack hasn’t fully recovered from its loss of earnings after the Coronavirus lockdowns.
As a result, Marlon and Chas have been desperately trying to cut costs in a bid to save their business.
However, Al has been pestering the pair in recent weeks, making it clear he wants to invest in the pub.
According to official soap spoilers, Paddy will try to convince Chas and Marlon to accept Al’s offer.
In upcoming scenes, Al continues his bid to invest in The Woolpack, despite Chas and the others not being on good terms with him.
Paddy does his best to convince Marlon and Chas to accept Al’s offer to buy into the pub, despite previously being the most against it.
Chas plays hardball with Al, telling him he can have a third of the pub rather than the half share he was expecting. Will Al accept her counter-offer or demand more?
So far there’s been a lot of attempts to avoid a deal altogether, but a recent blackmail twist has changed things.
Paddy previously teamed up with Kim Tate (Claire King) in a bid to stop Al from buying into the pub.
But, his plan dramatically backfired as Al discovered Paddy has been doping Kim’s racehorse in order to help it perform better.
After uncovering Paddy’s secret Al used his newfound knowledge to blackmail him.
He said: “I wonder what the authorities would think of a trusted veterinarian doping racehorses. Especially because I’ve got footage from the CCTV.”
Ordering Paddy to ensure Marlon sells him his half of the pub, Al said: “I don’t have to show anyone and I won’t just tell Chas we’ve had a change of heart and we’re best buds now.”
“Help me help you, that’s all I’m asking,” he added.
If Al refuses to accept Chas’ offer of owning just a third of the pub, he may end up putting more pressure on Paddy.
However, the veterinarian will be desperate to protect his reputation and job.
Will Paddy end up revealing the truth to Chas in order to convince her to give Al what he wants?
Chas will likely be heartbroken if she discovers her husband has been lying to her. Could their marriage be on the line as a result of Paddy’s deceit?
Meanwhile, viewers are adamant Chas shouldn’t let Al invest, with many on Twitter questioning Al’s motives.
“I don’t understand why Al wants to buy into the pub so badly. He must need it for something dodgy. #Emmerdale,” @1stLadyHooligan wrote.
@AuthorKarenMaso added: “Why does Al want a knackered County pub with no customers? #emmerdale.”
“Who would be that desperate to have a share in a tiny village pub? #Al #Emmerdale,” @TaniaWren said.
Emmerdale continues Monday at 7pm on ITV.
