ITV soap fans have been keeping a close eye on Emmerdale’s Liv Flaherty (played by Isobel Steele) in recent weeks as she continues to struggle with her alcohol addiction. Multiple residents have attempted to help her with her recovery, but the youngster keeps relapsing. On Tuesday night’s episode, viewers saw her turn to the bottle once again after explosive rows with Mandy (Lisa Riley) and Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson). If she can’t stop drinking soon, Liv’s brother Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) may have to take matters into his own hands. Could he end up sending Liv to hospital in a bid to get her the help she needs?
In Tuesday night’s episode of Emmerdale, fans saw how a bad day could tip Liv over the edge.
Aaron made it clear he had doubts when Liv claimed she can stop drinking whenever she wants.
Later on in the episode, Liv bumped into Mandy who insists the youngster stops seeing her son Vinny.
She warns Liv to stay away from her son, arguing that she should instead be focusing on getting herself sober.
The meddling mother even goes as far as to lie to Liv, telling her Vinny has blocked her number from his phone.
Mandy continues to lie as she says Vinny is on a date with Belle Dingle (Eden- Taylor-Draper).
Later on, an angered Liv spots Vinny with Belle and confronts him over not answering her calls.
“What is it with you and your mum thinking you can treat me like dirt and I’ll be fine about it?” Liv fumed.
Clearly confused as to what she was talking about, Vinny replied: “What?”
“You can go out with whoever you want Vinny I really don’t care but blocking my number is a bit low.”
Vinny quickly insisted: “I wouldn’t do that!”
Liv hit back saying: “Don’t lie. Your mum told me and about your date.”
“What date? What? Me and Belle?” Vinny asked.
“Yes, she’s thrilled that you’re going out with someone who’s… how did she put it? Normal!” Liv exclaimed.
The pair soon realised that Mandy had been meddling and when Vinny arrived home, he fumed at his mother, furious over her manipulation.
Angered by her interactions with Mandy and Vinny, Liv turned to the bottle once again.
She returned home with a bottle of Vodka in hand, much to the frustration of her half-brother Aaron.
“She’s had a skinful,” he commented, as Liv walked through the door.
The episode ended with Liv making a phone call to a mystery individual and arranging a date.
It looks as though she’s set to drown her sorrows after her row with Vinny.
As Liv continues to spiral out of control with her drinking problem, Aaron may have to take tougher measures to get his sister clean.
If he once again finds Liv in a bad state as a result of her excessive drinking, a devastated Aaron may have to call for help and get her admitted to hospital.
Could a devastated Aaron force his sister to get the help she desperately needs?
And could a stint in hospital be the shock Liv needs to get her to give up booze for good?
