Coronation Street star Maureen Lipman paid a compliment to Laura Tobin on Good Morning Britain by saying she looked like Kate Middleton.

As the 75 year old actress said her goodbyes on the hit ITV show on Thursday morning, Maureen couldn’t help point out the similarities between weather woman Laura and the Duchess of Cambridge.

Maureen said: “Thank you very much. I’m glad to see your weather lady is Kate Middleton. That’s very impressive.”

GMB's co-hosts Ben Shepherd and Susanna Reid agreed with Maureen’s comments.

Ben replied: “She does look very like Kate Middleton, you’re absolutely right.”

Before Susanna joked: “When they cast that film, Laura will be complaining if she’s not first in the queue!”

Laura, 40, echoed Kate’s effortless beauty with long brunette hair and light make up, as she gave a little wave to camera.

Fans too took to Twitter discuss the likeness between Laura and the Duchess as one viewer tweeted: “We affectionally call Laura Tobin “fake Kate” in our house!!!”

Beloved royal Kate is one of the most photographed and fashionable women in the world and is set to celebrate her 40th birthday this weekend.

As the milestone approaches, OK! has looked back at Kate’s transformation over the past decade from princess to future Queen.

Royal expert, Duncan Larcombe, explained that the transformation was culminated in her sleek, black ensemble at Prince Phillip’s funeral earlier this year.

He explained: “She has become a style icon and the ‘Kate Middleton Effect’ helps boost the British fashion industry, while Time magazine has voted her one of the 100 most influential people in the world.

“But there was something unique and compelling in that photo from Philip’s funeral – the expression in those green eyes above the face mask.

“Looking straight into his lens, head slightly tilted, we felt we were seeing a different Kate. Still warm, genuine, open and kind, but now poised, regal, confident and totally at ease with her destiny.”

Royal expert Katie Nicholl agrees, saying: “Kate now has over 10 years of royal service under her belt and has proved herself up to any challenge.

“Her role has been evolving all the time, but in the last two years she has secured her place as a pivotal – and much-loved – member of the royal family.

“The Queen is incredibly proud of Kate and how hard she has worked to get here.”
