Linda Robson has revealed that she was left in tears after forgetting to pick up her grandchildren from school. Recalling the horrifying moment she realised, the Loose Women star shared the moment with viewers at home.

On Wednesday's episode of Loose Women (December 15), the panel were discussing whether or not grandparents should get paid time off work to look after their grandchildren.

Linda explained that she is in a position where she is able to look after her daughter's children three times per week, while her daughter goes off to work.

The Birds of a Feather star then recalled an awkward 'mishap' that took place earlier on in the week, where she forgot to pick up her grandkids from school and was worried in case they had been left standing outside on their own in the playground.

Looking after them in the morning, she explained how she got the ready for school and gave them breakfast before taking them into school.

After dropping them off, she went to the shops, thinking that she was picking them up later than she was actually meant to.

"In my head I was picking them up at 3:45," she explained, "but at 3:15 I was indoors, I had just got out the bath, I was getting dressed because I was going to a premiere last night and I got a phone call from Lauren going 'Why aren't you at the school? You were supposed to be picking them up at 3:15?'

"I can't tell you, I went into panic mode and I couldn't get anyone to give me a lift so I had to run to the school, and I'm not the fittest woman in the world, and I was legging it up the road, crying on my way there.

"I was thinking 'oh my god, they're gonna be standing in the playground on their own, no one's there, it's freezing cold.'

"They was sitting in the office, with the secretary, Martine, and the caretaker, and they went 'don't worry, they're fine.'"

She then recalled how her grandchildren asked her why she was crying, before she replied with: "Because I thought you were there in the playground freezing cold."

She then joked that Lauren, her daughter, is still her friend after the mishap, and all is fine.

One Twitter user took to the social media platform and said: "#LooseWomen OMG… #Linda they won't have left the children outside in the playground alone. Slight overreaction perhaps!"

Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV at 12:30pm.
