Lucy Pargeter would be as gutted as Emmerdale fans if Chas Dingle and Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) split up.
Chas has been away in Scotland and has been called back to the village to help Charity (Emma Atkins)
Like most soap couples Chas and Paddy have been going through a rough patch with the lockdown making things worse.
The fiesty Dingle fears that their relationship is getting stale and is having doubts about settling down and being a wife to the village vet.
Now she’s back in town she isn’t ready to deal with Paddy, especially following his part in Kirin Kotecha’s (Rish Shah) arrest. Plus her chemistry with the charismatic Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) threatens to put a spanner in the works.
When Paddy goes drinking with his ex Mandy (Lisa Riley) Chas begins to suspect that the pair might have reignited old passions.
Lucy is crossing everything that the misunderstanding doesn’t lead to a breakup.
The actress said: ‘They work brilliantly as a couple. They are two extremes and on paper they’re not meant to be together.
‘They’ve been through so much and he is great for her and the stability that she needs and he is devoted. She just needs to work it out in her head.’
She added: ‘I’d be devastated [if they split], I love working with Dom.’
The soap star has also been loving working with Michael and understands why Chas might be drawn to him.
‘Chas and Al have had more communication than viewers have seen,’ Lucy explained.
‘Working with someone you’ve only seen in the corridor and you have to have a spark, it was bizarre.
‘He’s a gentleman, lovely, charming, charismatic – so it wasn’t hard to think why she would have a bit of a twinkle! It was lovely to work with him.’
