When will Ozark season 4, episode 1 be released on Netflix?

Netflix has yet to confirm a release date for Ozark season four, however, it looks like work could finally be underway on the new series.

The coronavirus pandemic has caused much uncertainty within the film and television industry given concerns over social distancing.

According to Indiewire though, production on season four is going to start on November 9.

Actor and director Jason Bateman told the publication: “Everything is moving well toward that [date], and we’re very confident in the guidelines and protocols we’re going to be following.

“We’ve got tons of consultants, [and] we’re learning a lot from other productions.”

While production company MRC said health and safety was the “first priority” and planned on “exceeding” the guidelines from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Season one debuted in July 2017 and the follow-up came in August the next year.

But season three didn’t hit the streaming platform until March 2020.

There was previously an 18-month gaps between seasons two and three of Ozark and there could potentially be a longer wait for the last outing given its extended length.

Additionally, the COVID-19 restrictions and safety measures on set could slow down filming on Ozark this time around – something the show never had to contend with previously.

Bateman said this new normal would be “challenging” and he anticipated there could be positive results when testing for COVID-19.

He said the number of cast and crew involved in the production meant the “chances are high” of the virus reaching the Ozark set.

The Arrested Development star went on to say: “We’re prepared for all of that.

“It will be disruptive, but these people, we’ve got to get back to work.

“We’re getting it as safe as we possibly can. I want to prepare for the worst but expect the best.”

Bateman also revealed he wasn’t planning to direct the first two episodes of season four due to safety.

The star won an Emmy in 2019 for his directing on the show but it’s now unclear whether he is going to getting behind the camera at all due to coronavirus.

He explained: “As an actor, you just sit in your trailer until they’re ready for you, then you come on out, say your words, and go back to your trailer.

“As a director, you’re out there all the time: in pre-production, on location scouts, in production meetings, there are so many more opportunities to get infected. And, obviously, Atlanta is just raging with the virus right now.”

Bateman admitted missing out on the opportunity to direct on the final series of Ozark is “breaking my heart” but he said he had to put the crew first.

Nonetheless, fans can expect a riveting watch when the show does return with the writers going big for the final series.
