Piers Morgan is living in fear of an axe attack from Corrie's Gail

Piers Morgan is used to riling people up but there’s the odd tweet of malice on Twitter and then there’s a soap legend coming at him with a tomahawk just a day after impaling his morning TV colleague Lorraine Kelly with an arrow.

Coronation Street’s Gail Rodwell (Helen Worth) clearly has an axe to grind with the morning TV schedule at ITV. In Coronation Street’s bid to put out daily morning episodes as well as nightly, it appears that they have set Gail on a one woman mission to put the presenters out of action – and the controversial Good Morning Britain host is next.

For those not a huge fan of historial weaponry (get a life, where have you been?), a tomahawk is a single handed axe from North America – more of a chucker than a chopper. In last night’s post watershed edition of Corrie, David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) was warning his family of Gail’s sinister intentions after she nearly saw off Lorraine with a bow and arrow.

He exclaimed that he had to stop Gail from throwing a tomahawk at Piers, and now Piers is watching his back now that the threat is out there?

Taking to Twitter, he reacted to the soap moment:

Good question. Although Good Morning Britain with Gail and Susanna does have a certain ring to it.

Axe threats aside, Coronation Street continued with the theme of violence last night as Rick Neelan (Greg Wood) beat Gary Windass (Mikey North) to a pulp and then threatened to harm Sarah (Tina O’Brien) and Bethany (Lucy Fallon) Platt after finishing him off.

He seemed to have Gary just where he wants him but we’d have a word of advice for Rick – if he plans to attack a Platt, wait until Gail is out of the house.
