Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, opened up on Alan Titchmarsh’s Love Your Weekend on ITV this Sunday about helping her daughters Eugenie and Beatrice navigate their way through their thirties on a daily basis. During the episode of an all-new series, the Duchess explained to Alan how she often encourages her daughters to “learn from others”.
The royal has been caught up in her fair share of scandals throughout her life, but she has managed to overcome them with grace.
Her daughters, Eugenie and Beatrice, are now in their thirties and have been in the media spotlight since they were born.
Eugenie, 31, is married to Jack Brooksbank, and they have a son together called August, while Beatrice, 33, is married to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, with whom she is expecting her first child.
Beatrice is tenth in line of succession to the throne, followed by her sister, and their father is Prince Andrew.
The Duchess revealed to Alan Titchmarsh that her daughters still turn to her for life advice every day, and she does her best to help.
The royal told Alan: “I think the secret about every day is to be an empath and to be curious, and to learn from other people.
“Coming here today, for example, I am fascinated by this beautiful place and so it’s an adventure for me, and I feel very strongly that I’ve come a long way on my journey.”
Alan then asked if there are certain things the Duchess advises her children against.
She replied: “They come and talk to me every day and then I say, ‘Well this is where I went wrong’, or, ‘This is where I went right’.
“I tell them how I feel, and then it is their responsibility to take it away and take responsibility for their own actions.”
But the gushing mother said she felt her two daughters are now “great ambassadors for themselves”.
She added: “They both really are. They both hold down very strong jobs.”

The Duchess then praised Eugenie for being a doting mother to her son, before commending her husband Jack for his brilliant fathering skills.
Eugenie and Jack welcomed their son August into the world earlier this year.
The new parents, who tied the knot in 2018, have been living at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s former Windsor residence, Frogmore Cottage.
Eugenie’s parents live nearby at Royal Lodge.
During the rest of the episode, the Duchess was grilled on whether she’d ever compete in Strictly Come Dancing.
Alan spoke to the Duchess and Strictly Come Dancing’s Craig Revel Horwood as his first guests on the show.
With the next series of Strictly Come Dancing a matter of weeks away, and with judge Craig on the show, it didn’t take long for the conversation to turn towards the ballroom dancing show
However, when the Duchess was quizzed on if she’d appear, she refused to give a definitive answer.
