What started out as an arrangement that was just about sex for Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) and Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) on Emmerdale is gradually turning into much more as the two start to fall for each other. If things keep heading in that direction, it can only be a matter of time before someone gets hurt, and chances are the someone could well be Chas’s husband Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt).

Chas has made several attempts to end things with Al, most recently when they got caught kissing by Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper) and realised they were playing a very dangerous game. They seem unable to resist each other, though, and the affair was soon back on, with Al handing Chas two burner phones so they could arrange their liaisons with more discretion.

In upcoming episodes, the two meet again and enjoy some intimate moments – and then Al drops the L word. Chas is shocked to hear that he loves her and swiftly retreats, unsure of how to react.

Al’s serious, though, and later tells her he didn’t just say he loves her in the heat of passion – he really has fallen for her. Chas realises he’s completely genuine, and she can’t help realising that she’s beginning to feel the same way about him.

Meanwhile back at home she has Paddy waiting – kind, lovable Paddy, who adores Chas and would do anything for her. Breaking Paddy’s heart would be unforgivable.

Would Chas really destroy Paddy’s life to pursue her relationship with Al Chapman?
