Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) has been left a broken man after being forced to say goodbye to fiancee Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) as she drove out of Emmerdale to stay with Debbie for an unconfirmed amount of time.

The sad exit came about as Paddy felt unsure of the relationship and hurt after Chas had felt a connection to Al Chapman (Michael Wildman). After they shared a picnic, Paddy had picked up on the tension between them.

When he and Chas later talked about it, her guilt and regret were evident but Paddy felt wounded and told Chas he just wanted to put it behind them – it’s not his job to make her feel better about this.

Chas wanted to deal with it now and, following Debbie’s offer of a break away, Paddy suggested they need time apart and she should go alone.

Chas agreed that a weekend might do her good but she was shocked when he said he felt it should be more like weeks. They parted on bad terms and, even when Paddy rushed out to speak to her, he couldn’t sort things out.

He made out he just wanted to say goodbye to Eve and when Chas even gave him the opportunity to ask her to stay, he rejected it – even though he wanted it.

As Chas drove away, disappointed, Paddy sad alone, feeling emotional.

Have the couple been broken apart after everything they have been through?
