Criminal Scott Emberton (Tom Roberts) has issued a dark threat to a horrified Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley) in Coronation Street – any deaths that come out of the armed robbery in the bistro will be his fault.
Scott had blackmailed his former friend into being the getaway driver for the car but when Johnny realised that a gun was involved, he pulled out, refusing to go along with it.
He then suffered an MS attack and collapsed by the road, with Scott knocking him out and abandoning him without his medication.
Johnny eventually came round and managed to get to a phone box and alert the police – while Scott was pointing a gun at Ray Crosby (Mark Frost) and Faye Windass (Ellie Leach) in the bistro.
Scott demanded that Ray hand over all the money and, nearby, Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) heard the call on the radio and entered the vicinity without backup, terrified of what would happen to Faye.
As Scott panicked, he opened fire and shot Craig before fleeing the scene. When Johnny heard what had happened, he was crestfallen.
Scott later accosted him in the shadows and asked if Craig was dead. Johnny replied that he isn’t but he still might not make it.
But Scott blamed him for calling the police – telling him if Craig dies, then it is his fault.
As this thought traumataised Johnny, he is set to make a discovery about the real truth from his past – followed by a major confession.
