Strictly Come Dancing viewers have slammed the scoring of the judges who gave Will Mellor his lowest score to date. His emotional performance failed to impress Craig Revel Horwood and Shirley Ballas. The actor was suffering with a virus and BBC viewers have leapt to his defence.

Some fans were outraged by his and Nancy Xu’s score of 23 for their Rumba to Ed Sheean’s The Joker and the Queen and took to social media to voice their displeasure.

Brenda tweeted: “Will Mellor is clearly unwell, hats off for getting through the dance, judges were harsh considering! #Strictly”

Sean added: “Was it really fair to give Will Mellor scores of “4” and “5” given that he was battling the flu? I thought he did extremely well given the circumstances, and to score him as if he had done a full week’s training seems a little harsh to me. #Strictly.” (sic)

Hibiscus penned: “#Strictly #WillMellor did brilliantly considering he had been ill all week and certainly looked under par after his performance. Wish judges had acknowledged his illness when they gave judgement.”

Rowena wrote: “Spot on it is absolutely #oktonotbeok. Scoring harsh.”
