Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid was left red-faced on Monday morning after football star Paul Gascoigne sent her multiple flirty winks her way live on telly.

Gascoine, appeared on the ITV breakfast show to pay a moving tribute to his pal Jimmy Greaves after the former footballer died on Sunday at the age of 81.

Following the former England midfielder’s gushing tribute to his pal, who is also a fellow Tottenham Hotspur alumni, Susanna and co-host Richard Madeley then praised Gazza for overcoming his alcohol demons, which led Gazza to offer up a cheeky wink to a blushing Susanna.

Susanna said: "You look well, you really look well."

It prompted a Gazza to send two flirty winks at Susanna.

Looking a little flustered and surprised by the gesture, Susanna playfully responded: "Not that well, Gazza."

Laughing, he said: "You bottomed us out, gutted."

Gazza, 54, received a flood of compliments following his appearance with viewers who commented on how well the new grandfather looked.

“I wouldn't recognise him,” one user tweeted, with another adding: “How well does our Gazza look on TV?”

The compliments continued with a third writing: “B****y hell! Don’t even recognise the geezer anymore,” and a fourth said: “So nice to see Gazza looking healthy on #GMB.”

The former midfielder then switched his cheeky behaviour over to co-host Richard by making fun of his cooking skills.

He said: "Last time I saw you was Sunday dinner at yours, and I couldn't play for two weeks because the Yorkshire puddings were that rock hard."

Richard said: "I can only apologise. I terminated your career. I remember that."

Gazza’s struggles with alcoholism are well documented and led to him having stomach implants to stop him drinking His battle with the bottle has caused an outpouring of public support over the years as well as interventions from several big names in the football world.

“I’ll always be an alcoholic, but now I can have a couple of glasses of wine and I have a few beers. Not every day, but when I want to,” Gazza revealed back in February in a candid interview with The Sun.

“I don’t trust spirits so I keep away from them, but I’m on top of things at the moment. I’m enjoying life.”

Gazza reassured fans on Good Morning Britain that things are looking up, saying: "Things are looking good. I just try and take each day as it comes."
