The Chasers Road Trip saw the trio of quizzers head to Japan where they were introduced to some impressive robots.

Airing on Thursday, the latest episode of The Chase spin-off saw Anne Hegerty, Shaun Wallace and Mark Labbett investigate whether artificial intelligence could overthrow the human race.

At the start of the instalment, Anne was left baffled as she discovered a furry robot lying on her bed in her hotel room.

The unusual robots were on each hotel bed and they looked like a fluffy cushion with a tail which moved.

Similar to real-life pets, the robots release feel-good chemicals in the brain.

However, Anne was not convinced as she remarked: "It looks like an enormous hairy sperm!"

Viewers took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the robots as one said: "Those robots are creepy as heck."

While another penned: "That is not a pet", with three laughing emojis.

"Anne just putting the cat robot and other robot outside the room." laughed a third viewer.

There was also another robot in the room which continued to speak, leaving Anne annoyed.

She said: "Oh for f***s sake that's going to be really annoying.

"Can I leave it outside the room?"

Anne recently spoke of the moment viewers saw her gazing at co-star The Beast emerging from the ocean.

During the episode, Anne was said to have been glancing at Mark, 55, as he was wandering out of the sea wearing some swimming trunks.

She said: "Let's not go there. I always say we're not each other's type and I don't do younger men. I just looked over my shoulder at the sea and they cut in an image of Mark coming out."

She went on to say that the editors were "wicked," joking that producers often do "that sort of thing".

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
