The Good Doctor fans have been following Dr Shaun Murphy (played by Freddie Highmore) and Lea Dilallo (Paige Spara) as they give a relationship a go. However, there have already been several trials for the pair, including Shaun developing feelings for someone else. Will this mean the end of the line is in sight for the pair? Here’s what has been revealed so far.

Shaun and Lea have not had it easy over the past few seasons on their path to finding love.

After rejecting his advances, it was only the end of the third outing when Lea told Shaun she wanted to give them a try.

So far in season four, they’ve had to deal with being separated from each other due to coronavirus COVID-19 restrictions.

They also had a rather awkward family dinner when Lea’s parents came to town.

The latest episode of The Good Doctor saw Shaun and Lea deal with their next hurdle.

Shaun found himself developing a crush on new radiology resident Dr Cintia D’Souza (Priscilla Faia).

This even resulted in a dream sequence where Shaun kissed the doctor.

Thankfully, Lea and Shaun were able to quickly move past it after he confessed his confusing feelings.

Lea then highlighted D’Souza’s irresponsible salad bar practices, which helped Shaun realise his crush was only shallow.

However, some viewers might be worried about any lasting implications.

Especially because showrunner David Shore did hint the romance might not last for the pair.

Speaking to TV Line after the end of season three, he said: “We wanted them together.

“Whether it will last is another question, but it felt right from the very beginning.”

However, after the episode, many fans were convinced the pair would be okay after all.

Posting on Reddit, user Annber03 wrote: “I also liked Lea’s solution to the whole thing with Shaun and the woman he liked.

“Shaun’s concerns were valid, but I liked Lea reminding him that it isn’t always that serious.”

While Twitter fan Austin_dafoe added: “This conundrum was handled successfully! I enjoyed Lea knowing Shaun so well and how to put out the flame!”

A third named DarkTigerPT tweeted they were pleased to see the pair working through any issues they had.

They added: “Shaun and Lea keep powering through every bump and managing small inconveniences through communication before they become real problems, so glad to see it.”

Viewers will have to wait until next week to find out what will happen next for the duo.

The Good Doctors airs on Mondays on ABC.
