The Voice Kids viewers were left in tears by contestant Sam on Saturday, with host Emma left moved backstage.
His father revealed ahead of his audition that after being diagnosed with leukaemia, his wife, Sam's mother, sadly suffered a rare complication and she passed away just 15 months before filming.
Sam’s music is said to have helped him and his family through the difficult time, with the 13-year-old performing at his mother’s funeral.
He took to the stage and performed Like a Rolling Stone by Bob Dylan, and quickly impressed the coaches.
Danny Jones was first to turn his red chair, soon followed by Pixie Lott.
But at the end of his track, the judges were intrigued by his talents on the harmonica, with him singing while also playing the instrument during his perfomance.
He then revealed he could also play guitar, and even wrote his own songs.
Danny offered him his own guitar, and the coaches joined him on stage requesting he performed an original track.
Sam’s father and sister were backstage with Emma, watching in awe as Sam sang an emotional song, with Danny playing the harmonica.
It wasn’t long before host Emma was in tears over the special moment, and she wasn’t the only one.
Taking to Twitter , viewers praised the teenager admitting they were in tears.
One fan said: “Sam has moved me massively!!”
Another agreed: “I’m bawling at this boys song,” as a third said: “Awful to lose his Mum at such a young age, but the kid handles himself well.”
