The Yorkshire Vet continues to entertain, inform and delight viewers as its cast tends to sick animals in need of assistance. The Channel 5 docuseries focuses on Skeldale Veterinary Centre but does venture to other practices around Yorkshire. So who is cast member Shona Searson, a relative newcomer to the show?

Who is Shona Searson?

Shona has been part of the cast of The Yorkshire Vet since 2020, giving fans an insight into what goes on at Donaldson’s Veterinary Surgery.

While she may be a new face to the series, Shona has plenty of experience when it comes to taking care of animals.

She graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2012 with a BVSc in Veterinary Science.

Shona, aged 33, has been a clinical director at Donaldson’s for around nine years.

When she has been featured in The Yorkshire Vet, Shona has been seen taking care of a group of alpacas.

Playfully nicknamed The Rat Pack, they needed to be tested for tuberculosis.

Along with Shona, the docuseries welcomed some of her colleagues Martin Paterson, David Melleney Matt Smith and Rohin Aojula to the show.

When she isn’t sharing her knowledge on the Channel 5 series, the vet is demonstrating her work on Instagram.

Shona has around 800 followers on Instagram and regularly posts what she does at work.

This includes helping mend a poorly lamb’s leg, tending to a bull’s nose ring and giving a C-section to a sheep.

She only started her account in November 2020 after becoming a member of The Yorkshire Vet team.

Shona is expected to return when the docuseries does later this year.

The Yorkshire Vet is going to be getting another series, as confirmed by star Peter Wright.

An official release date hasn’t been announced but it is predicted to be out some time later this year.

Peter and Julian Norton and the rest of the team will be back to showcase what they can do for injured and sick animals.

This won’t be the last viewers see of The Yorkshire Vet though.

According to Peter, The Yorkshire Vet has been given the green light for two more seasons.

Speaking at The Great Yorkshire Show, Peter said: “Season 12 is just finishing but 13 will arrive in the autumn and we’ve just been recommissioned for seasons 14 and 15 next year.

“The viewing figures are great and our fans are very loyal, if we didn’t get the views, Channel 5 wouldn’t want us, it’s as simple as that.”

The Yorkshire Vet is available to watch on My5.
