BY the end of Gentleman Jack’s first season, Ann Walker and Anne Lister got their happy ending in the period drama after following through with their commitment ceremony.

After nearly a two year wait for the new season to announce its release date, here is when it will be back on your screens.

When does Gentleman Jack start in the UK?

Gentleman Jack kicks off in the UK on April 10 at 9pm on BBC One.

There are eight episodes in the second season which will be released weekly on Sunday.

The previous season is available to steam via BBC iPlayer.

When is Gentleman Jack out in the US?

It has not yet been revealed when season 2 will be shown on HBO in the US.

Judging by the last season, it will air a few weeks after it has been released in the UK.

What happened in season 1?

The HBO synopsis of the season reads: "Set in 1832 Halifax, West Yorkshire, and inspired by a remarkable true story, this drama series follows the charismatic Anne Lister (Suranne Jones) as she attempts to revitalize her inherited home—and marry a wealthy heiress (Sophie Rundle)."

Ann left Hastings heartbroken and heads to the luxurious landscape of Halifax, West Yorkshire, to restore her uncle's estate she she has inherited.

While she is restoring the estate she finds that the family land as a coal mine and finds that its being stolen by two brothers.

The new landowner encounters a potentially dangerous romance with another woman, while she records a cryptic dairy that no one can decade.

This newly instated, unusual lady landowner and landlord encounters a potentially blossoming and dangerous romance with another woman, which she records in a cryptic diary that no one can decode.
