THE Undoing has gripped viewers with its dark twists and turns.

The mystery has come to an end and fans are desperate to know if another series is on the horizon. Here's what we know so far…

Will there be a series 2 of The Undoing?

There's good news and bad news for fans of The Undoing.

The good news is that the murder mystery has been resolved – meaning the agonising wait to know who killed Elena is finally over.

Now, here comes the bad news. The Undoing has not been confirmed for a second series.

The Undoing was written as a miniseries with a complete ending – based on Jean Hanff Korelitz’s 2014 novel You Should Have Known .

So, although a second series is a possibility, it seems unlikely that it will be airing anytime soon.

What could happen in season 2?

It's hard to say where a second season of the show could go – since the murder mystery has already been solved, and Jonathan is being taken to jail.

However, the same situation happened to HBO series Big Little Lies, and although the murder was solved at the end of the series, the show was renewed to show the aftermath of Perry's death.

So, a second series could show the implication of Elena's death and Jonathan's arrest on the Frasers.

How did season one end?

Series one told the story of married couple Grace and Jonathan Fraser, who live an idyllic life in New York with their son, Henry.

Grace (Nicole Kidman) is a high-profile couples therapist and and her husband Jonathan (Hugh Grant) is a wealthy pediatric oncologist.

Their seemingly happy life comes crashing down when Grace meets a woman named Elena (Matilda De Angelis) at a committee meeting at the prestigious school that their sons both attend.

But everything unravels when Elena is found murdered in her salon in the first episode.

A long murder investigation begins and Grace comes to suspect her own husband – who, it transpires, was having an affair with Elena and was out of town without his mobile phone when her body was discovered.

We saw Jonathan arrested and thrown behind bars for Elena's murder – but in the meantime, Elena's deep-seated obsession with Grace is uncovered and Jonathan is also revealed to be the father of Elena's youngest child.

Fans began to doubt Jonathan's guilt, and got suspicious that Sylvia, Grace's best friend was the killer, and Grace's father was even suspected.

The last episodes featured a series of flashbacks revealing that it was indeed Jonathan who killed Elena all along – and fans were shocked at the bombshell.
