Yellowstone season four will be airing on The Paramount Network on November 7 and it has been a long time coming. Viewers are still waiting to find out who attacked the Dutton family in the explosive season three finale. They have come up with plenty of theories as to how the premiere will kick off the new season.
How will Yellowstone season 4 start?
The third season of Yellowstone ended on a huge cliffhanger with multiple characters’ fates left hanging in the balance.
The fourth instalment should follow directly from the aftermath of the attacks on the Dutton family, as the trailer suggests.
In the teaser for the upcoming season, police are seen arriving at Beth Dutton’s (played by Kelly Reilly) office following the explosion.
Meanwhile, Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) is seen finding an injured John Dutton (Kevin Costner) on the roadside after he was shot.
The tagline for the new season is “every body pays”, which suggests some lives will be lost in the opening double-bill.
Fans have taken to Reddit to share their thought on how the first two episodes will play out and how many people will die.
One said: “The whole issue depends on whether or not the ranch attack took place simultaneously with the shootings of John and Kayce and the bombing of Beth’s office.
“If that IS the case, then we can expect to see that ranch attack during the 2-hour premiere. If that’s what comes about, then I guess 7, including one of ours (Yellowstone guys).
“If the ranch attack takes place later in the season, then I don’t know what’s going to happen during the 2-hour premiere.”
Another viewer responded: “My guess is about nine, most of them minor characters. I think Kayce will lose a couple of Livestock Agents, Beth will lose her assistant (and probably be severely injured), and, if the ranch attack is simultaneous, then one of the background ranch hands will die.”
As for major characters, it seems that all of those injured in the season three finale survived.
Fans have accepted patriarch John Dutton will not be killed off at this stage of the series.
They also believe Beth had been spotted in some of the clips from the trailer, after noticing a female with a similar hair colour.
Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) is most likely to still be alive following his quick reaction to the shootout.
Still, this does not mean the premiere will come without any casualties, as the trailer suggests trouble at the ranch.
Monica (Kelsey Chow) and Tate (Brecken Merrill) are seen running from the house as they realise they are under threat.
Monica proceeds to get dragged along by one of the attackers, but it appears she is saved just in time.
It is unlikely the suspects behind the attacks will be identified in the first episode, as this mystery is expected to play out.
The premiere should confirm who is alive, but fans will probably have to wait until the latter half of the season to find out who wanted them dead.
The creators of the series have vowed season four will be “worth the wait”, so fans are hoping for big things.
The fourth season will also introduce some new characters, although it is not known which of these will appear in the premiere.
Caroline Warner (Jackie Weaver) is said to become one of the Dutton family’s biggest threats as she hopes to crush their hold on their beloved ranch.
Kathryn Kelly has also been cast as a vet who forms a relationship with one of the ranch’s cowboys.
Finn Little will play a young boy who is taken in by the Dutton family, with some fans believing Beth and Rip will adopt him.
An official synopsis for the premiere should come to light next month, ahead of the November release.
